Tonry: Blake Keeps His Distance From Blazers, Outlaw Goes Right In

41
Andrew R. Tonry of Portland Roundball Society on the different approaches to reunion shown by former Blazers Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw during last night's postgame... --------------------------- Individually, Blake got the best of his younger counterpart, scoring on a number of pull-up jumpers in the lane. But the stoic Blake, one imagines, just doesn’t let go of losing—or leaving a team headed to the playoffs for a perennial laughingstock. The bitter pill becomes that much harder to swallow when he’s outplaying the guy who got his job. Indeed, Blake must know that the Blazers could use him. Afterwards Blake kept his distance from the visitors locker room Wednesday night. But not Travis. He went right on in, slapped fives with Juwan Howard and waited for the expectant media to finish with his best friend on the team, Brandon Roy. They were both ecstatic, and Roy began joking with Travis right away. --------------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
