Poll - Which team to root for now

I've got a lot of things to say about my poor blazers. But, I'm going to hold off for a bit. I need to get over this loss first.

Hello ladies. Look at your man. Now look at Brandon Roy. Now back at your man. Now back to Brandon Roy. Sadly, he is not Brandon Roy.

Suns and Jazz

Better to lose to a winner and I like Sloan. I’m also sick of how the Spurs act like that team belongs when I know a healthy Trail Blazer team would beat the Spurs. Hate the Lakers. Hope the Cavs win it all though.

by Kaanyr Vhok on Apr 30, 2010 1:04 AM PDT reply actions

Cavs don't deserve to win, they are just unfairly deep

Antwan Jamison trade was almost worse than the Pau Gasol trade. Absolute highway robbery.

I just want the Cavs to win so they will lose some hunger

and get less calls against the Trail Blazers if they ever face off.

Fair enough.

but it might be easier for them just to lose this year
and Lebron be shipped off somewhere else to start all over.

by GoBlaze22 on Apr 30, 2010 3:45 AM PDT up reply actions

Uh...

Jamison isn’t all that good. I guess if you want a high number of less than efficient shots and shoddy defense he’s your guy.

by as11osu on Apr 30, 2010 10:17 AM PDT up reply actions

Context my friend.

Pau was shooting around 50% when he left Memphis, and has been averaging close to 55-56% with the Lakers. Jamison was a poor shooter as a volume scorer, but with the Cavs he’s been able to pick his spots better. Although he isn’t shooting in the 50’s like a traditional power forward, his impact on the cavs is unmistakeable, because of his ability to stretch the defense with the 3.

FG% isn’t the be all end all anymore, especially as the Cavs aren’t a traditional post oriented offense like the Lakers.

by premthegrem on Apr 30, 2010 1:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Jamison's TS% is the same with the Cavs as it was with the Wiz.

53%. He plays for a team averaging 57% in that area as a team, he’s hasn’t increased the team efficiency. Saying he’s able to ‘pick his spots better’ just isn’t true by the numbers. Because of LeBron’s ability to play the 4, having a 4 that can shoot the 3 isn’t among the Cavs biggest needs out there. Add in Jamison’s weak defensive ability and people are drastically overestimating his impact on this Cavs team. A team that before Jamison arrived was on a 13 game winning streak of it’s own. A team that after his arrival lost their next 3 games.

by as11osu on Apr 30, 2010 1:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I like LeBron, but . . .

Watching him NOT win titles has become way more fun than watching him WIN titles will ever be. So I don’t want the Cavs to win it all.

I’m not rooting for the Suns, because I actually like the Spurs, and I’m still not happy with the way our series played out. Can’t root for the Suns anymore.

I want the Bucks to do well because both Jennings and Skiles got robbed in their respective award votes.

I guess if I get my way it’ll be a Spurs over Bucks finals. But really I just don’t want the title to go to:

L*kers
Cavs
Jazz
Thunder
Suns

Suns

I will root for the Jazz ONLY until they have to face the Suns (if it were to happen)
I can’t stand Salt Lake City, and the Jazz happen to be located there, but the other teams they are facing or may be facing I can’t stand either. So the Jazz will be rooted for until the WCF, and only because you have to admire a coach that can stay in that city for so long.
The Suns will be fun to watch (now). It would be hard not to root for Nash.
I can root for Skelator.

I used to like the Suns, but not after this series. But the Spurs have been my 2nd vave since David Robinson. I like Duncan as long as we are not playing him. Wish they could bring Bowen back for the Suns to give Amar’e some of his own medicine.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

I've got the root for the Spurs....

normally I would root for the Suns because the don’t have a championship, but I need LA to lose and I don’t think the Suns can beat them in a best of 7 series. That Suns/Spurs series should be interesting. Won’t it be funny when the Suns lose to the Spurs….again.

Cavs

all the great ones should win a title, and Lebron is pretty clearly a great one.

by GMan83201 on Apr 30, 2010 11:29 AM PDT reply actions

Bucks

But they’re not getting past the second round, if we’re being serious. Here are my rankings for “realistic” teams that can win:

1. Cavs. Cleveland fans haven’t been able to celebrate a championship in any major sport since 1964, and Lebron shouldn’t have to take on the “A-Rod of basketball” stigma that the dumb media will likely attach to him if the Cavs fail again this year. Go Cleveland.

2. Suns. We’d be able to say, “Yeah we lost…but it was to the eventual champs!” Even with all that’s been said about the Suns’ players, a lot of them did come off as good guys to me after the series. And Steve Nash and the Suns’ fans deserve a title after all the crap they’ve had to put up with recently (here are the grisly details: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/080501)

3. Everyone else. I can’t root for the Magic because of Vince Carter. I can’t root for the Jazz because of Carlos Boozer (and the way he slimily departed from Cleveland for more money). I can’t root for the Nuggets because I mean, come on. And obviously I can’t root for the Lakers.

So…Suns/Cavs Finals with Lebron taking home his first title is what I want to see. Knowing my luck it’ll be Lakers-Magic again :(

We still cant get any love from the Blazer nation?

Yall put up a helluva fight considering how injury depleted the team was. Dont wanna wear out my welcome but a Blazer squad at full strength is even scary to us Laker Fans.

You can tell the true greatness of a team by how they respond to adversity........

The l*kers

Are similar to the Yankees. You can’t/don’t root for them unless you’re from the immediate area. It’s just something you don’t do.

LOL

It was passed down to me from my popz, so ive been a Laker fan since Magic and all points in between. Army Brats have that luxury! I cant speak for other LAker fans but i love that other teams fans hate us so much. I loved getting booed when i played ball so being the bad guy is something i relish in. I did want you to beat the Suns..Cant stand them.

Beat LA.....

Is all i want to happen in the playoffs and i don’t really care who does it. I can’t stand Amare’s whining but I’m cool with the rest of the suns. even Richardson, not his fault they left him open every single game, had good things to say about the blazers and the fans. But the reffing in the NBA has really turned me off the game for a while. if it wasn’t for the blazers i honestly don’t know how much of this league i could even watch.

by brobot on Apr 30, 2010 7:34 PM PDT reply actions

Suns, absolutely

Once I get over hating them so badly for the last two weeks…

Nash deserves a title. It would be really cool for Grant Hill to win one too. And I will ALWAYS root for the Suns if they are playing the Spurs after being robbed by them so many times.
