Off topic: question about today's and yesterday's PFs

Stay connected for news and updates

For those wanting a quick break from all the (worthwhile) playoff hoopla, I have a question about PFs and Karl Malone.

For some reason, I have the notion that PFs of the past are significantly better than those today. I'm thinking of Karl Malone in particular, but there's also Sir Charles and others. Is my notion that Malone would easily dominate today's PFs (eg, Aldridge, Amare) correct? Is it faulty memory? Are there any PFs today that would stand up to those if yesteryear?

I think today's PGs are probably just as good as those in the past, but it seems the old big guys were better in the past. Maybe I'm wrong. eg, I believe any NFL team today would easily dominate past NFL teams. Players there are bigger, stronger, and better coached/trained. Does the same hold for today's NBA? Maybe they don't look as impressive because everyone is better. Very curious. Love to hear your thoughts.
