Brooks Wins COY, Nate 3rd

I consider Nate's distance 3rd place finish to be a slap in the face instead of a compliment. I know we tend to criticize Nate a lot here at Blazers' Edge, but to get our MASH unit to 50 wins is more impressive then riding the rise of a young, talented team. And it makes you wonder why Nate didn't win last year.

Once Again Nate Gets Robbed of COY!

I expected it but wow, why is it that the best COY never wins? If Brooks got it this year Nate surely shoulda won last year. If Brooks got it this year its even more of a slap in Nates face than last years COY because he got us to 50 wins again with out most of his actual starting lineup—thats true coaching. OKC I believe lost 1 player for like 2 games all season. They have been perfectly healthy all season and have the high scoring leader to boot.
One year they give it to the team with the most wins(CLE) and then they give it to the team no one thought would make it?(OKC) How does this work? I mean, those are 2 absolutely different teams yet both won COY for almost opposite reasons!

No diss by the way to Brooks, I dont take anything away from him and his abilities as a coach. Im just saying Nate had a tougher position to coach from and yet still came out better, thats a true COY. 50 wins for us this season was like WOW! 50 wins for a perfectly healthy OKC with Durant, cool! but not surprising at all to me. Now if Brooks gets OKC 50 wins without Durant, Westbrook and Green, then he deserves the COY.

BOYCOTT THE COY SYSTEM IT IS A SHAM!!!!! ITS UP TO US FANS TO CHANGE THIS COY CRITERIA SO THAT THIS DOESNT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS-Im sure Lebron or Kobe is MVP too...

And DHoward is DefPY…and ofcourse Nate isnt COY. The NBA, where the predictable happens.

Seems about fair

There was a columnist (on ESPN I think) a week back or so who said that Nate wouldn’t win COY, because it goes to teams that beat expectations, and the Blazers had high expectations going into the season. The system is more likely to recognize coaches that surprise us by making teams expected to suck into playoff teams than one that overcomes an insane rash of injuries to finish lower than projected.

That part is not exactly fair, but Brooks and Skiles did do some crazy good coaching, so any of them getting it is fair.
