Stop being realistic!
With Roy hurt right now I am DEFINITELY slurping some Kool-Aid when I say Blazers in 6… but it’s delicious Kool-Aid… and I’m going to get some mileage out of this series and have fun.
And at least if we lose
It’ll be to a team I don’t hate.

I don't LIKE the Suns at all... but I'll admit, I don't hate them.
WC teams I hate are L*kers (for obvious reasons), Utah (barf), Denver (Melo/Birdman/barf) and OKC (because stealing our PNW rival is not cool).
fyi, you won the regular prediction contest I did at the start of the season
I’ll do a post at some point, but am busy right now.
Blazers in 6...
…don’t ask me to swear to this under oath. Because for the playoffs I become a total homer. Go Blazers!
"Mother Nature started this fight, I think it's about time we ended it!"
Suns fan here
If the Blazers were healthy, I’d say Blazers in 7. However, with the injury to Roy, I’m going to have to go homer, and say Suns in 6.
Well, you're wrong.
Go Blazers.
Seriously though, my prediction of Blazers in 6 hinges on Roy being able to return by Game 3 with the Blazers with at least one win in hand… I’d love to see it happen. Either way, expecting a good series. The suns look good right now.
If the Blazers were healthy...
They’d have won 60 games like we all thought they would. Instead, they won 50. So, health doesn’t matter so much if a mostly injured team wins 5/6ths as much as a fully healthy one. Why count the Blazers out for that reason?
These are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others. -Groucho Marx
Maybe not 60
But we’re probably the 2 or 3 seed in the west.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
I dunno...
Full season of Oden + Joel+ Batum+Outlaw and 20 more games from Roy? I’d say close to 60 as well. Remember how Greg was playing before he got injured and how bad the perimeter defense was with Batum and Outlaw out? I’d think Greg would play better as season wore on rather than worse, as young players tend to do and as Miller and Roy started to work well together.
"I think he’s been doing some good things. I think he’s been doing some good things. He’s had to play a lot of minutes lately with Blake being out. I think he’s been doing some good things." -Nate McMillan
i am on board with this completely
heck, keep greg out and bring back Roy for the 17 he missed, we win at least, AT LEAST, 3 of those that we lost if he wasn’t out
"Oh Yeah!" ~ Kool Aid Man
I'm not saying the suns have had a rougher injury year
But we have had our share of injuries. In fact all the teams have faced adversity of one type or another.
right
I was simply replying to the statement that the blazers had a good shot at 60 wins if we were not so decimated.
311 games missed due to injury this season, I doubt you faced that kind of ‘adversity’.

if we learned one thing in the last 2 years
id say it should be that homecourt doesnt mean much when you are down 0-2
HOMERS UNITE!
Blazers in 4!!!!! … LOL Ok ok, maybe not. But seeing as how we’re the underdogs, can ya really shoot TOO high??
Travis to Patty, "Why you sound like that?"
Homer Pick: Blazers in 6
Serious pick: Suns in 7.
All of this is subject to change if they can find Mr. Miyagi to do that rub his hands really fast then heal whatever he touches thing to Brandon’s knee.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
Shout out to Mr. Miyagi!!!
And let’s put Diener in there to “sweep the leg” on Amare or Nash!
just kiddin, take it easy.
You pick, then you roll. It ain't so hard. Let's try it out.
suns
suns in 6. nash and stoudemire pick and roll the blazers to death.
I hope you guys are voting assuming Brandon comes back
Cause as is I say Suns in 6.
Lover of everything Batum.
#88
Hoping for Blazers in 7 . . .
feeling like Suns in 6.
I can see the Blazers winning this series though. We’ll have to see what they learned from last year and how Nate does his match-ups. To much Howard, we lose. Use Dante wisely, we have a chance.
To summarize: Wade too quick, Kobe too skilled, LeBron too physical - Batum
so you're saying
that Dante is the key to our playoff series? I agree that we’ve been seeing a little too much Juwan in the middle dropping passes and such. But my hope would be for more Camby.
You can say whatever you want to about him or about me, but my favorite Blazer to watch is #52.
no
just that I’d rather see Dante covering (pretty much anybody) than Juwon. Juwon’s been a big part of the team this season, but he’s not going to “fit” in this series. The energy that Pendy and Dante can bring could be a big asset against the Suns.
To summarize: Wade too quick, Kobe too skilled, LeBron too physical - Batum
I live in Phoenix
Went to both games down here and the Suns were a quarter away from getting swept in the season series, Brandon didn’t play in the first game here and the Blazers were up 24 on them, the second game Brandon had a horrible shooting game and was a total non-factor, Camby was just getting adjusted to the new team and the Blazers still almost beat the Suns here, went down to the last two minutes.
The Blazers play defense like a young Spurs team, we all know how much the Suns like to play the Spurs.
If I put on a Spain jersey and dunk in Dwight Howard's face, they give me a "50"- Rudy Fernandez.
we had the Suns in that game right up until Miller rolled his ankle as well
in the game we lost…
"Oh Yeah!" ~ Kool Aid Man
Suns just have too many weapons
and a bench that is the best in the league. Suns in 5.

God is on our side theory
Blazers win the finals, Roy is voted president of the US, the United States regains economic dominance!
Injury factors
Roy’s done for the playoffs. Let’s just accept it. We wouldn’t want him trying to play and he can’t do that. Rudy needs to have a good series, stay in his role in the offense while making plays where he can, and play solid D.
That doesn’t mean that the Blazers are done, of course. In fact, the Robin Lopez injury is a big factor in this series, too. Collins and Frye playing center for Phoenix? My goodness, thank you, yes please. LaMarcus and Camby need to be forces inside on both ends of the floor and prove that the two of them are too much for Amar’e, Collins, and Frye. That’s realistic, too, I think. Blazers need to slow this series down and take it at the interior defense of the Suns. If they can do that, they can certainly win. Of course, there are other factors, but that’s a big part of it, I think.
Hollinger says Suns in 5
Of course he also has the Suns in the NBA finals (losing to the LeBrons), which is more than a bit crazy if you ask me.
Insider article only so I’m not linking.

The Nugs are probably a better matchup for them then we are honestly
Because if we can slow down Phoenix (big if I know) they struggle.

I played with the ESPN Machine this morning...
Blazers pulled the upset 8 of the first 10 times I ran it. I quit while I was ahead, not wanting to mess with Karma. 3 times we made it to the WCF before losing to the Lakers or Jazz.
Blazers in 6! Por-Pho-Por-Por-Pho-Por
Suns are playing the best basketball in the west down the stretch, for some reason they don't really scare me when I think about them
but they are playing so well we might regret getting what we wished for.
Blazers in 4
because we have Free Throw Guy.
Take THAT Suns!!!

A young & experienced, talented team with nothing to lose...
Blazers in 6 without Roy early;
Blazers in 7 with Roy back too soon.
Huh?
Sit Roy for games one and two or his injury will probably hamper their ability to steal a couple in Phoenix. Let him rest and recover and bring him back for game three, when [a little] healthier to protect homecourt.
I just don’t see the Shadows as that good of a team and I think the match-ups are the best for Blazers compared to Utah or Denver.
Time for the Kids to grow up.
I think Roy may be a good fit off the bench
If he’s going to be limited, use him off the bench.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Makes sense though
Given Roy’s clutchness, if you’re going to only get 15-20 minutes a game, don’t waste them early.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
No
If Brandon can play, he’s going to start and not limit his minutes very much. I doubt they use a 70% Brandon.
You can say whatever you want to about him or about me, but my favorite Blazer to watch is #52.
This sounded like a good idea
until it became a moot point with the surgery announcement.
To summarize: Wade too quick, Kobe too skilled, LeBron too physical - Batum
I say Blazers in 6.
And I base this only on my homerism, which I usually try to keep in check. I like this feeling of optimism.

I put in the obligatory homer vote
Blazers in 6
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
I'm a homer. I pick the Blazers to win.
But I cant see this one being shorter than 7 games. We aren’t in their heads anymore… Are we?

If the Blazers sweep their way to the title
Then I demand they fire Bert Kolde.
MARCUS CAMBY!!! MARCUS CAMBY!!! MARCUS CAMBY!!!
Especially in the playoffs, the team that controls the boards and wins the T/O battle will come through.
Why? More possessions overall. Because of Blazers’ superiority in both facets due to addition of Camby, I expect us to have a decided advantage in # of possessions…probably 10 to 15 per game. If this holds true, (who knows? Camby might all the sudden forget to rebound while Stoudemire and Frye all the sudden go crazy) Phoenix would have to shoot an ungodly % to win the series.
Also, given how the defense has looked ever since Camby and Batum joined the team, as well as our ability to switch everything, I like our chances even without Roy. Unlike last year with Houston, this is the best matchup we can hope for since if there is one team that we can outmuscle in a slow-paced slam dance that is the playoffs, it’s the Suns.
My X-factor for this series is Camby, not Roy. His defense on Stoudemire and his rebounding is what will allow us to win the series. I expect at least one 20 rebounds game from Camby this series. I’d also start Martell over Rudy do to his superior defense as well the fact that Martell just plays much, much better as a starter.
"I think he’s been doing some good things. I think he’s been doing some good things. He’s had to play a lot of minutes lately with Blake being out. I think he’s been doing some good things." -Nate McMillan
exactly
exactly what I think. Except I would add that Miller needs to exploit Nash when he has the ball, sort of how he went right after Westbrook a couple of weeks ago. Just take it right to him until they start doubling, then dish.
You can say whatever you want to about him or about me, but my favorite Blazer to watch is #52.
Hopefully Andre
can get Nash into foul trouble. That would make a huge difference.
To summarize: Wade too quick, Kobe too skilled, LeBron too physical - Batum
Oh, you crazy kids
You should spend less time in the hot hot heat. It’ll make you delirious. Stay hydrated. Eat less of that silly cacti you got growing down there and import some good ol’ northwest mushrooms.
Blazers in 4!
MMMmmm mmmm those are tasty!
Suns in 7
We steal one of the first two, they steal one of the next two, home team wins out.
It’s hard for my homer glasses to look past how well they’ve done since the ASG.
I was thinking more along the lines of
Game 1 – Suns (Blazers nervous, away, shots not falling) 1-0
Game 2 – Blazers (Get over the nerves, play solid D, Shoot better) 1-1
Game 3 – Suns (Blazers nervous again due to raucus home crowd, shooting sucks again) 2-1
Game 4 – Blazers (Get it together with crowd and have a blowout) 2-2
Game 5 – Suns (One more for the home team, close game) 3-2
Game 6 – Blazers (Home team is pumped along with crowd, good win!) 3-3
Game 7 – Blazers (Everything on the line and Blazers got no quit in them, good game but the Suns go down in a tight game) 3-4 Blazers move on to the second round against the Mavs…samo, samo?
To summarize: Wade too quick, Kobe too skilled, LeBron too physical - Batum
Blazers in 6
Steve Nash gets abused on the post, Martell and Rudy feed off the doubling of Andre and/or LA in the post. Marcus Camby prevent defense on Amar’’’’’’’e , Nick and LA strip the ball as STAT tries to drive from the top of the key, the only place he is able to get the ball. Channing Frye needs to be open to hit his three from the top of the key. Nic is long and quick enough to guard Sprite. All good things for our shut down defense.
Long story short, the playoffs are physical and the Blazers can play that game, and the Suns just can’t. Blazers in an easy 6.
You're saying that they look like they're giving it their all. And you know why they look that way? Because they're bad, and it literally takes them the maximum physical effort to accomplish basic baseball tasks like throwing the ball from short to first. When David Eckstein throws the ball to first base, he has to wind up like a shot-putter, spin around forty-three times, and launch it at an angle 89 degrees from the horizontal. Afterwards, he undergoes an IV drip for a fortnight and he's so out of breath that he requires several months of acupuncture to regain the power of speech. For this we laud him. -Junior of Deadspin on 'scrappy' players
Depends on Roy, obviously, but ...
Miller has stepped up and can carry this team too. Without Roy, it’s still competitive though not a likely win.
Majority (actually, plurality) vote for "Blazers in 6"
Got a whole lot o’ delusionizin’ goin’ on, methinks.
Of course, I’ll be quite happy to be wrong and have the “Blazers in 6” contingent be right.
Duct tape makes you smart.
Blazers are jump shooters
We get some of those “everything falls” games, I think the Blazers can take them even without Roy. We don’t, we probably lose 4-1.
Don’t know how much nerves will affect our chances at the “everything falls” games.
