Blazer fans have to be extremely impressed with the Blazers' performance this season despite the rash of injuries they suffered. I've been asking around everywhere for a complete breakdown of the team's injuries over 2009-10, but got nowhere, so I made one myself. The file is a resolution that is perfect for widescreen monitor wallpapers (if you can't find the size here, get it here), in case you need encouragement for any adversity you face in the near future.
Fellow Blazer superfan Brandon Goldner had the idea to show this information graphically, and he and Jens Odegaard helped with the research. Enjoy!

Dunkel!
And we won’t be seeing and Dirkel Dunkel’s in the playoffs—at least right away…

poor rudy
we all know what it feels like to experience crippling low self esteem. thanks for finally making an all encompassing injury chart AND for making it pretty!
I hope everyone else knew RIGHT AWAY what that was lol. Great stuff.
Columbus til I die, Columbus til I die. I know I am, I swear I am, Columbus til I die!

pure, sweet gold...
…ner
Yes, I am shamefully referring to both myself and the brilliant designer responsible for this masterpiece! BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, but I’m not surprised.
Nice work, dude

Low Self-Esteem
I think the low self-esteem category perfectly sums up Martell. Oh, and the shower injury for Joel is absolutely hilarious! You outdid yourself with this one Dan!
It happens...
I wanted so badly to put Bayless in the low self-esteem category, but he always followed up his 0-8 games with an at least 60% performance. Poor Marty (and Rudy).

Ditto this. The 'cripplingly low self-esteem' was what made this awesome, instead of just depressing. That and the pretty colors.

Marty played well last night!
and his hair has got it going on right now!
he's like samson.
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Takin' care of Phoenix
Nice post. I can’t believe the bad luck we have had this year. Hopefully Roy is able to play this postseason.
I think the Blazers need to bring back the old school Bauchmen Turner Overdrive “Taking Care of Phoenix (business)” song commercials from around 91-92’. That would be sweeeeeeeeet.
y-y-y-y-y-you just ain't seen nothing yet

Hollinger with a shout-out about this
Hey Dan, this was just tweeted. You’re damn near famous now!
@johnhollinger: This graphic of the blazers’ injuries is pure genius: http://tinyurl.com/y4mr4g5
they're ripping us on the suns site
this injury report is ridiculous, we gotta move on and look at the players NOT injured. this team is gonna be fun, how about a rudy vs bayless starting spot debate. Or how much dante cunningham is gonna play. also, the suns site doesn’t let you post comments till a day after you join, wtf
Easy now...
This is just a really fun a clever way to help us see how we got here. The dissection of the upcoming series is already started. Nothing wrong with a cool way to celebrate a regular season I will never forget. I for one… got a huge kick out of this and it made me appreciate the heart of this team and the creativity of our fans.
RoadBlazer
Really? I thought they were too busy replaying that clip over and over and over of Amare dunking on our third string power forward to notice.
Bring back Camby. Please.

Good stuff!
This really says something about Miller, Cunningham, and Diener!
"You kill a mosquito with an axe. Nothing personal, but this is what I've got to do. You're in my way right now so I've got to get rid of you and I'll see you next year." -Monty Williams
Agreed
Yeah after watching this season it’s even more amazing that Miller has been able to stay healthy for so long
Pretty awesome stuff
Joels first injury was definately severe though. Nothing moderate about that. He should have two red knees within 6 months…..brutal.
Severe
I have upgraded (downgraded?) Joel’s knee injury to severe—had a number of requests to do that. I forget now why I had listed it as moderate in the first place. Definitely agreed it was anything but. Thanks for the comment!
Haha! Sweet
I will add to your fat pile of recs for this!
Miller, Camby and Howard FTW. Love me the geezers.
Thunderdunk, nice chart! It really deserves wider circulation.
I suggest your considering sending it to a place like TrueHoop.
311 or 309?
this article says 311 games missed, while the article on nba.com http://www.nba.com/2010/news/04/14/westseries3_preview/index.html says 309 games missed…
any thoughts?
Three point shot or the bucket and one...
Does it really matter?

Debatable
I researched this pretty thoroughly, using nba.com as a source too. I’m wondering if the 309 sited in that article was including that night’s game (it spoke of 309 in the past tense and the article was posted before the final game against GS was played). There is also a bit of a gray area as to when Patty Mills could be considered “not injured,” since he practiced with the team for awhile, was sent to the D-League, came back, etc., but I’m pretty confident in the final number I got for him.
Also, Barrett confirmed my 311 number on the broadcast of the GS game—not solid enough to source, but I assume they do their research too.
Thanks for your concern, if you find some hard evidence that my numbers are off, let me know and I’ll change them.
