He makes an interesting point.
And to an extent I agree with him. But I want Brandon to play.

His point is excellent.
We have heard from Brandon, but ultimately Blazers management will decide if they want to risk further or worsening injury to Roy. I expect he will definitely not play the first 2 games on the road, and then they will re-evaluate the status (pain, swelling, stability, etc.) of the injury. My guess is that they will not let him play at all.

PA should invest in stemcell regenerative research.
Phoenix wouldn’t be the only team with a fountain of youth.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Yeah, unfortunately he's right. I don't wanna see him try to play. Roy is fragile enough, we don't need a catastrophic knee injury as a result from this one.
I believe this team can win a playoff series without Brandon though.

If he can help the team then play.
I just don’t want him to play for the sake of playing and then not play any D. If he can’t play better than Rudy then don’t play him at all. That should be the measuring stick.
i dont think it would risk any long term damage but
he wouldnt be making Any fast cuts to the basket and when the tear flaps over or floats or what ever hes done for the game. feels like your knee went out of socket. definitely wouldnt be good for d and might mess with his shot but he could slide to 3 and play the old martell standing in the corner if we really needed him. i think hed be more of a liability though.
Anyone know what kind of tear it is?
I had a bucket handle tear in my meniscus for years and it was constantly feeling loose and lateral movements made my knee want to buckle.
All these ESPN guys need to get their info straight before they make that proclamation
Tim Legler was going off about it last night too…and was totally incorrect
It’s true that he can’t make it any worse, in the sense that it’s already torn and is going to require surgery anyway, if he goes out and plays, regardless of what he does to it moving forward, its still going to be the same injury, require the same surgery, recovery, etc.
While the meniscus is important, remember that there are a bunch of guys in the NBA, notably Chris Paul most recently, who have had their meniscus partially or completely removed (just like DeJuan Blair that doesn’t have an ACL in either knee). So while it sounds bad, he could actually play on it fairly effectively if there is no swelling or other complications
Don’t think for a second the Blazers, who just gave BRoy a max contract extension, would allow him to play if it meant jeopardizing his long-term future. If he isn’t effective he shouldn’t be out there, but if he CAN play and be effective, I don’t see why he shouldn’t

I think Chris Broussard is attempting to bury, what has been for some time, "a dead horse."
I don’t think he has liked our depth (particularly in the back court) for some time, and because of this, he is feeling his oats as an “expert” right now. He feels more than justified in giving us no chance in the playoffs—no matter who we play (because he feels we have some major weaknesses beyond Brandon’s injury).
Unfortunately for us, healthy players are a big part of the equation when it comes to winning an NBA title. Our injury issues are just one of the long term issues that makes Broussard feel comfortable predicting the Blazers’ close out sale come playoff time.
Contrary to what a lot of Portland fans believe, he, along with many outside observers, believe that the Blazers are a good distance away from winning a championship. My problem is that I am not quite sure what moves are in order—even though I do understand that major moves still need to happen.
Note: I think LMA and Batum are the two most untouchable Blazers.
