A max of 17 games, and lot of training sessions. More experience for Rudy.

Friendly games: probably around 8 games. Spain played that number of games before the last Eurobasket.

Preliminary rounds: 5 games. Spain will play these games at least.

Then Spain could play Eight-Finals, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals.

ugh

it does help in development i guess, but i don’t want him getting hurt.

The blazers knew they were signing up for this when they drfted him, so it comes as no surprise to me.

As long as we get a strength and conditioning coach over there to help him get buff, things should work out.

I would presume though that they would have to let Nic go now as well?

Nic should rest

He’ll probably go but he’s had another good (half) season and should really think about resting up and maybe some a very small amount of strength conditioning… though not enough to mess his equilibrium.

As for Rudy, he’s had a very frustrating time and at this point I’d be shocked and maybe disappointed if he didn’t want to compete during the summer.

I hope they send him Jerryd’s dribbling coach from last summer on vacation. He’d need that more than the strength coach.

Send em both.

He'll be fine

His back isn’t hurting anymore and he ended up with a month and a half of rest he wasn’t planning on this season so I’m not worried. Besides, Nate will be there too – the US and Spain have an exhibition game before the Championship even starts so he can check in with Rudy. I really hope neither Rudy nor Nic gets hurt over there, but both of their injuries traced back to last season and have been surgically dealt with!

Besides, I think losing both Rudy and Pao on the National Team would’ve been a blow going into the World Championship. Marc Gasol will move up to starting center I would guess but not sure who move up in Rudy’s place … I’m sure someone would step up (they’re not short of good players on the team) just not sure who that would be.

Until this team has a recent chamionship under it's belt,

its expected they will be loyal to their country first. The only way to deter this is to be one of the elite teams with credibility in the way things are ran. Then maybe they’ll want to be dedicated more towards the team and their requests. I understand the “team pays their salary” argument, but there are a ton of teams that would also pay it. Not only that, most of our Euro’s are under Nate’s sit in the corner and wait for a pass offense. I am sure there is nothing else they would want more than to rep their country and get out and gun.

Blazer Pride.

I understand the "team pays their salary" argument

Rudy is locked into a rookie pay scale, and playing for team Espana will only increase his endorsement opportunities overseas

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
