Robin Lopez
Going into the draft two years ago, I thought the Blazers should take Brooke Lopez as insurance and thought at the time he'd make a great backup. Just prior to the trading deadline this year, I was thinking they should deal Bayless for Robin Lopez. With Joel's injury, and Oden's history of injuries, I would really look to make this deal at the end of the season, if you could get Phoenix to be a willing partner. I think Robin has started to blossum and could turn into a pretty good center - not at the level of Brooke, but I think there is a lot of potentia with Robin - in my opinion would be worth trading Bayless for him.

Why would they want Bayless?
They’ve got a better version of him in Barbosa. And they love Lopez down there. I’d make that trade though if it was available…
Robin Lopez?!?
I’d almost rather have George Lopez.
But I’d take Brooke.

i vote they fire nate and kp and hire you.
i think we def should have started the season with another center and another pf or 2. the elite teams are big, bigger than us and killing us. it was tough when we had greg and joel, i think we were still short then. its prob too late now for the lopez’z but i hope we start drafting centers and real tough guy power forwards. we wouldnt need a center so much if we had an elite pf. malone, boozer, zach those guys get more rebounds than most center. i think kp mistakes elite with finese.
bayless for malone straight across? I don’t know if the Lakside Senior Center Slammajammaz would make that trade.
Fire KP and Nate because they didn’t foresee season ending injuries to both of our centers? Who would be a better fit? Ms. Cleopatra the 1-900 psychic?
How can a team be too short when you have Greg, Joel, LMA, Batum, Travis, Pendegraph, Juwan and Dante on your roster at the begining of the season?

i want to hear more interviews from contending teams players
no bull, tell it like it is what they think of the blazers and why we will only be a 8 seed. i think garnett would tell it like it is.
i am pretty sure we will be a 7 seed
Awesomeness (ô'səm-nes)
1. n. Something that inspires awe
2. n. Nicolas Batum

garnett?
you mean the guy on the team that lost to the nets at home, and almost lost to the wiz and home in the same week?
the same guy who went 0/7 against the wiz?

Captain, sir, the reason we will most likely be a #7 seed is because we have had a HUGE number of injuries
You act as though it is some mystery, or that it is because KP doesn’t get that we need bigs. Our guys are out for the season. Our star has missed 14 games. We have been playing at least five first and second year guys. We are young and hurt, what part of that is difficult to understand?
Assuming the team is able to resign Camby, we now have Oden, Pryz, Camby, LMA, Howard, Pendergraph, and Cunningham as guys who can play the 4-5. That is probably the max number we should carry.

I would have liked to get him as part of a larger Amar'e and Barbosa/Richardson for Iggy and Dalembert deal, where we could have sent Travis to Philly and cash/2nd round pick to Phoenix
On our own it seems very unlikely we’ll be able to get him in the summer while they are unsure if Amar’e stays or what they can get for him.
The logic completely escapes me
We have Oden, Pryz and Camby
We have LMA, Howard, Pendergraph and Cunningham
We have one, 33 year-old PG ahead of Bayless. Our biggest long term roster hole is at starting PG. Bayless is likely the only player on the roster capable of filling that hole. Why in the world would you trade him? If you don’t see his potential, at least recognize that if we are going to trade him, we need to be getting a PG back.
All the “trade Bayless” posts make no sense. He is playing very well and progressing rapidly. He currently has a PER of 16.2, giving him the second highest PER of any back-up PG in the league. What are you thinking?

Wouldn't do it.
I think Robin Lopez is a product of the system he’s in. Put Frankenstein on the court with Steve Nash and he’s bound to make some baskets. He looks decent because he plays with the best passing/pick-and-roll PG in the game.
With Lopez’s injury keeping him out of the first-half season, and not playing last season, I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to trade him straight-up for Bayless, let alone ANY of our guys.
Yes, he has size, which everyone has enough of, but really? For Bayless!? Who’s left at PG for the Blazers!? Like someone mentioned before our biggest need is a future PG (Bayless or not). Not Robin Lopez.
And Brook Lopez is spelled BROOK, no E everybody.
The 2012-13 NBA season: a dynasty begins.
Trading for Lopez
Had we traded Bayless for Robin just before the deadline, I think Steve would have remained on the team (thus the team wouldn’t have been down a PG), and even if he was, I’d go with the combination of Miller and Roy to get us to the end of the season.
I think the team could pick up a PG (I don’t think Bayless is the PG of the future – he’s a true combo guard, but much more of a scorer then distrubuter – from an offensive standpoint, I think Rudy would be better at the point). Robin is a decent defender (watched him play quite a bit when he was at Stanford) and perhaps in time he will develop an offensive game.
I'd rather make a run for David Lee
Robin Lopez is no where near what Brooke Lopez is. He’s a decent “back-up” in the association, but nothing more. I agree that he does have a lot of potential but whenGO/Pryz get injured again the Blazers need someone who can step in big. It’d be a huge long shot to get Lee in (brother is going to get paidafter this season) but if you have your 1-4-5 as Roy, LA, Lee who cares who the 2&3 are. Just my thoughts
David Lee
I’d rather have David Lee as well, but not sure if he would be willing to sign for the mid level exception – which I believe is all the team would have to offer…unless they did some type of sign and trade – perhaps matching his salary with Joel, which would be an expiring contract, along with a player they may want to keep around for a while…but then I’m not sure why they would do that when they will have the salary cap room next year to be in the market for some of the top FA’s in the league.
