Oden still hoping to be back
This story and an Oregonian one today are the first I have heard in a while.
My favorite was him saying to the reporter, "You be realistic." Hilarious. It would be nice to see him on the court for the playoffs if he can do it pain free. Time will tell.

I just reviewed the highlights from a preseason game last fall
Portland beat Denver at the RG by going on a late 13-2 run highlighted by Miller, Roy and Oden. It would be nice to see another “replay” of that smashing action, in the first round
the Birdman and Nene had no answer for GO
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Sure would...
One of the articles talked about him making it on the court and what that would mean for his summer workouts. I don’t really see a down side to him playing IF he is healed and in shape enough to at least see spot minutes. It would give the Blazers a better chance to win playoff games this season, propel him into his off-season regimen, give him more playoff experience, and just get him out there with the team. I hope it happens.

IF it were Pryz I'd say sit him
but it’s Oden and I understand he’s been injury prone but this isn’t muscular or tendon damage. It’s simply a fracture that’s healed (with the addition of a few screws I believe) if it’s healed, then it’s usually stronger than it was before it broke. If he’s pain free and healthy before the playoffs AND the Blazers pay him milliions then PLAY HIM. At the least, have him play with the second unit and give the opponents back up center nightmares.
I just don’t see many teams out there that could battle the Blazers for 7 games let alone a Center that could handle Oden for 7 games. I guess we have to wait to see if Oden can handle himself for 7 games.
The injuries have all been unrelated...
I am willing to call him injury prone to a certain degree but it isn’t like his bones are bad where the same foot or leg is repeatedly fracturing.

San Bowie
kept breaking the tibias in both of his legs, but after he reached his late ’20s they finally stayed healthy and he played NBA ball until he was 33

If nothing else,
he should hit the ground running next year.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
I wonder if he’d be a good wingman.

You kidding? Even with his grampa grimace he's gotta be swarmed by the ladies everywhere he goes.
…of course not everyone could measure up (so sorry. couldn’t be helped.)
What I would like to know
is how much he is weighing these days? I am hoping he will be closer to 260 than 285. Dave, BEN, could you get us any info on how Greg’s weight is looking?
21 + 52=
‘Oden was averaging career highs in points (11.1), rebounds (8.5), blocks (2.3) and shooting percentage (60.5) before his injury.’ <—- nice!
but he definitely shouldn’t rush back at all!
loveisrespect
he is no grampa.
he is 21. There is no such thing as rush back if his broken bone has been declared 100% healed by doctors

best one liner i ever heard.
seriously he needs to come back. if his knee is completely healed
and he can play 20 mins in a game then bring him on. Dude is 21 years old lets not forget. No matter how long he sits at home. he will still be 21 years old and athletic. plus he has already started hitting the treadmill so i doubt he wont be able run back and forth in basketball game.

yup
looks like he just needs to add more strength as they said, which he is doing since there are many reports of him constantly in the weight room, working on his lower body. and with time he can bend the knee and jump more, then just get into game shape before the middle of april. should be an interesting story to follow as the playoffs get closer
