Where would we be without Juwon Howard? SO Thankful we signed him!

I don't know where we would be without Juwon Howard on this team. He has stepped up so big for us. Old man still has some game. I went to a clippers pre season game in LA & wrote about how Juwon looked great, dropping jumpers on kids heads. Loves it. We would have been up a creek this season & out of the playoff race if we had not signed Juwon this summer.

Yes, Howard has helped us,

but his minutes should be on the decline now that we have added some better players for the stretch run.

Howard’s real problems at this point, even though I love what he brings to the team experience wise, are that he can no longer move his feet or jump, at an NBA level.

The challenge of saying someone should get fewer minutes

without saying they suck or should be off the team completely. I am familiar with this on BE. I’ve been joking that Howard has replaced Blake as Nate’s veteran he plays over the young guy to frustrate fans. As with Blake before he was traded, I don’t think he’s horrible, there’s just other guys I think should get more minutes them him and he’s better as a role player than a key piece of the rotation.

Nate likes wiley veterans

and I see his point from a consistency perspective. What I don’t care for are long stretches ineffective play that veterans seem to be able to get away with. One version of ineffective play (mental errors) seem to get the young players pulled quicker than the older version of ineffective play, which involves an inability to move one’s feet on defense or jump high enough to get a rebound or block a shot. I like exciting plays as most fans do, and am probably more willing to endure mistakes (than Nate) in order to see them.
