CSN NW HD comes to Verizon FIOS TV! FINALLY! (Ch. 577)

I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere here on B.E., so I thought I would let the community know that Verizon recently launched the HD feed for CSN NW. The last two Blazers games were broadcasted in HD and it looks great! Of coarse, it does require that you have an HD set top box from Verizon.

This is something that I have been anxious about for a long time as a FIOS TV customer so please use the comments and let me know how you feel about this?

It made me so happy when I saw channel 577 one day! Its great, now I can actually tell the difference between Juwan Howard and Brandon Roy when they are both on the floor.

I had FIOS and switched to

Comcast basically for HD Blazer games. I hated watching the standard Comcast Channel on a HD tv.

Not sure if this means anything either, but recently I’ve been getting the CSNNW HD Blazer game feeds on NBA league pass here in Hawaii. Something I haven’t been getting all season, I’ve just been getting the other teams broadcast, and not always in HD……

I rarely get the Portland feed in Colorado as well.

But I did get it for the OKC game. Weird.

Almost switched

I was so close to switching over to Comcast just for this very reason. I wasn’t about to go thru another playoffs without all games in HD. I celebrated the day I realized FIOS finally has this channel in HD.

I thought FIOS was leaving Oregon. I saw a Billboard with something about FIOS leaving.

Verizon Exits Oregon and Washington

They’re selling everything but their Cell Phone business in Oregon, Washington and 9 other states it looks like, to Frontier Communications. I don’t know if the recent acquisition of CSN for FIOS will move to Frontier or not.

A little more info...

I watched a board meeting recently in Washington County where they had a Frontier representative there. They explained that they would continue to expand the DSL market, but were holding on new FIOS deployments until they had completed a full assessment on the feasibility FIOS and make sure they can make money on it. They didn’t go much more in depth, but I remember commissioner Tom Brian was displeased by that answer because he was major part of the big push for FIOS deployment in Washington County and personally was very happy with his service.

If you're thinking of switching to Verizon

Just a word of advice: the DVR they offer totally sucks. You’ll get by with it, but it’s got a LOT of problems.

My brother has Verizon and has to call them frequently

due to billing errors. Don’t know what billing errors, but they overcharge on something most months. Not a big fan of Comcast but so far no billing errors!
