or maybe
he just strategically offered his super-toxic offer to turkoglu.
It was super effective.
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

if that's true, then KP should win an Oscar
because he was very unhappy when Hedo left Portland after making a verbal commitment
Remember, Nate had travelled to meet with Turk in Orlando before Hedo came to Portland. This was no “ruse” to screw the Raptors, that’s preposterous. Turk was Portland’s #1 FA target and it’s a black mark on the front office’s ledger that they were fully prepared to pay him 50 mil for 5 years, last July
“Dodged a bullet” is too tame.. More like avoided a oil-tanker collision

guess we will never know how he would have done in Portland
The different coaching and role, in a game that depends so much on confidence make if difficult to figure out how he would have done on a different team. He might have been a perfect fit in Portland we will never know. So it can’t be held against Pritchard how he plays for a different team.

No, but a lot of commentators (not me) predicted that signing Turk to the 5/50 offer would’ve been a poor use of the Blazer’s capspace back in July, so the news of Hedo’s current discontent in Toronto isn’t exactly hindsight

No ESPN Insider for me. Can't read a thing.
What’s it say? Anything new?
"What people need to know is that those pictures were taken a year and a half ago, and I've grown since then." - Greg Oden
Worse than Charlie V and Ben Gordon?
"OK Kids! Who wants a basketball? That's why I love my Chevy Silverado."
I'm not sure why they didn't include Gordon
Charlie V was a mistake from the get go, but the Pistons had to think Gordon would put up close to 20/game. He’s doing 12 or 13 right now. Ugly.
"In fact you might say that Ugly is the Blazers' secret weapon this year."

and I'm not sure why they bothered to argue Sheed
probably just because it’s the Celtics. Anyone that expected Sheed to do anything at 36 was deluding themselves.
To me, bust implies you were expecting good production from a primary player. Signing an aging vet (always a gamble) to be your 8th man (minor role) isn’t close to signing a starting player coming off a career year.

three years at full mid-level is not a small contract to an older veteran. It’s a big time deal with big time expectations.

Hindsight being 20-20 Portland might have had the best free agent off season.
We set the price on Milsap and made it so the Jazz will probably lose Boozer. We caused Toronto to release some players to sign Turk and we got the best fit in Andre Miller. Of course it wasn’t the plan A but it probably couldn’t have worked out better.
best FA signing in July
best trade in February?
Are there any other “recent” acqusitions that have been helping their teams more than Miller and Camby?
Salmons to the Bucks, maybe

agreed

Sheed
will be a different player in the playoffs.
I think his value to the Celtics team will be more evident during playoff time.
I would trade Marty straight up for Turkoglu as long as Turk was willing to take only the minutes Martel is currently getting.
we can still win........
Worse than the Turkoglu signing, IMO
was how Detroit spent their cap space money. They got Gordon and Villanueva – neither of which are even starting – and Wilcox – who’s injured and wasn’t getting a lot of minutes even when he was healthy.
Detroit was a playoff team last year but is deep in the lottery this year. Ouch…..
