Oden - Explosiveness
Hey I just wanted to know, if somebody knows if Greg's knee injury will have an important influence on his explosiveness/athletic in his future when he is healthy? Cause I think we all know what a big part his explosiveness is in his game. I don't know how much influence his last injury had, but I thought he looked pretty explosive and athletic this season. Anybody who knows a thing or two about this topic?

I thought Amare looked pretty explosive in the game last night.
It just may be a matter of time, even after he comes back, before he is back to 100 percent.

docs have been saying all along that if you're going to have a knee injury, this is the one to have
not sure how comforting that is though :-)
I am so tired of these Oden penis jokes...
I mean all I had to read was “Oden” and “explosiveness”…. I mean grow up.
Greg's knee
I don’t know anything about this subject other than what I have read. Jay Jensen said in an article in the tribune that Oden’s knee will return to 100% and he will regain his explosiveness. The doctors have said it’s just a broken bone and there was no damage to the structure of the knee. Greg was looking very explosive this season, I agree with you. If he does get back to that and give the team a full season next year everyone will see why Greg was the number one pick.
Does anyone know anything about Wolff's law in athletes?
I read the same thing, that the muscles literally pulled the bone apart when he jumped up. But since bone’s not only heal themselves but can adapt to pressure over time, it seems quite possible that he can eventually get rid of that nasty injury bug. But, then again, I’m not a doctor…
Docs are saying it will mostly be mental
if he can get that confidence back he will be fine

special drill bit
they had to use a special drill bit on his knee because his bones were very strong. So that isn’t the problem.
I still find it hard to believe ihat there wasn’t a hair-line fracture in his knee already from the Maggette knee bump incident.
He’ll be back to 100% physically, and I hope he wears knee pads for now on.
I'm with you
And find it hard to believe that it wasn’t connected.
Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game
An orthopedic surgeon I talked to about it said it was most certainly connected.
He said chipped patellas commonly lead to further bone injuries. It just seems like common sense to me. Does a structure not weaken if you take a chunk out of it?

It's a knee cap so i wouldn't think so...
Once Greg rebuilds from the muscular atrophy – he should be just as explosive as ever.
Treat people well because Karma can hit you at any second.
He is 22.
not 32.
I’ve wondered the same thing. But he’s young. There literally hasn’t been any wear-and-tear on the knees, or his body. It’s just a matter of him working himself back into game shape AGAIN
The 2012-13 NBA season: a dynasty begins.
This was a bone injury. No tendon was damaged. When tendons are damages, there is scar tissue when they heal.
That tissue is not as elastic which means it can tear even easier. That is not the case with Oden. So this should not effect his explosiveness at all. The bone itself should heal strong than it was before.
