quad strain info?

somebody hunt us down some quad strain info… how long is a common recovery?

by ItsMrHarris2u on Mar 20, 2010 1:02 PM PDT reply actions

i'll do my own dirty work...

Sports Injury Info

Most soft tissue injuries heal within several weeks. You should be able to return to normal activities anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the severity of your injury.

Playoffs start in 4 weeks.

I think I’ll move my lucky rabbits foot closer to my Rudy bobble head.

by ItsMrHarris2u on Mar 20, 2010 1:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Sounds about right

Quinton Ross was out 7 games last season with a strained left quadriceps. Deron Williams and Brevin Knight missed 2 games with a “bruise” there, though I almost assume the two words are meant to mean the same thing in injury reports. Devin Harris missed 2 games with a strain in 2006. Anything from 2 games to 4 games seems common going through the history.

Worst case I’ve seen so far was Steve Francis out for the rest of the season after a surgery on it in 2008, but that was probably a tear.

by Norsktroll on Mar 20, 2010 2:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Did Francis ever play in the NBA after that?

Not that he deserved to, I thought he packed it in after we bought out his contract.

by superfly05 on Mar 20, 2010 4:45 PM PDT up reply actions

No he didn’t. But he exercised his contract option for his last year, and had another knee operation.

by Norsktroll on Mar 20, 2010 5:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Bummer...

Just when Rudy was starting to look comfortable out on the court.

More time for Bayless though, and maybe Batum or Martell.

I don't know

Miller, Bayless and Roy were all in the game together in the second half last night. It will depend mostly on match ups and there aren’t a lot of match ups where Martell looks good at the 2 guard. I keep thinking Nate will use him there but he just doesn’t seem to have confidence in his ability to handle the ball. Even when Batum and Martell have been in the game together (rare), Batum plays more of a 2 guard, helping out on the press etc., on offense than Martell.

by tssbro on Mar 20, 2010 5:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Totally agree
he just doesn’t seem to have confidence in his (Martell’s) ability to handle the ball.

I may not agree with Nate on everything, but I agree with him on this. Martell looks terrible dribbling the ball for anything other than a straight line drive to the rim. I love his energy and his shooting, but his ball handling is the most limiting factor in his game.

just for funzies

I’m going to say that Travis Deiner gets his first meaningful PT in a Blazer uniform against the Suns

If I’m wrong don’t hang me—but if I’m right? You heard it here, first

I'm gettin' a rope ready

You realize there are no “funzies” on this site. I will now refer to you as that guy who thought Deiner should be playing over Bayless. No take backs.

Yeah, Jerryd looks tired, time to ring the Deiner bell

If there’s foul trouble, Nate will call on Travis. With Nash dribbling around, it may take more than 3 guards to defend him over the course of the game…and then there’s all of those spot-up 3 point shooters to close out on. If Nate tries to use only 3 guards, their tongues are going to be hanging out by the end of the 1st quarter

At least Deiner has experience playing key minutes in a regular season game…

3 guard rotation

Roy, Miller, Bayless.

We might see Travis for 5 minutes tops.

Something tells me Rudy’s frame just can’t hack it in the NBA. Call me crazy or whatever you want. But he plays far too physical for his body. I just have this feeling that he’ll ALWAYS miss 10-15 games a season from random dings.

Bust! ; > )

One more injury and he is done for sure! Sorry, could not resist. Rudy does need to add some muscle.

Really now, do we lose much by giving Martell the minutes that Rudy was getting?

They are both a model of inconsistency. Rudy is a better passer is about the only difference. I still have hope for both of these guys, but 15-25 points one night and O’fer the next 2 nights isn’t going to help this team much. We need some consistency off the bench. I’d much rather have 10 points every night than have 25, then 2, then 3. Same overall points, but knowing you can rely on a guy would be nice.

Rudy being a better passer isn't the only difference

Martell is a FAR superior defender, and rebounder if he feels like it. They are similar though, in that when Rudy’s shot isn’t falling, he becomes a pretty good facilitator, and when Martell isn’t hitting, he tends to be a better hustle player.

by superfly05 on Mar 20, 2010 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Have we been watching the same Rudy?

Excluding last night’s game, where he played very few minutes, he had been playing very well. He had at least one 3 made and 1 assist in 12 straight games, and only 2 turnovers throughout the same time period. He scored in double figures 8 out of those 12 games, he shot over 40% from three in 8 of those 12 games. He has been quite consistent over the last month or so, which is what makes this injury worse.

RUDY > MJ
Thank you KP

Agree with this

Rudy seemed to be getting to a place where he was completely back from the back surgery, in shape, and getting comfortable with his role with the team. Sure, it was “only” 12 games but he was starting to look like the promising player from his rookie year again.

Uh, I think you are comparing Rudy to the wrong guy

The minutes are more likely to go to Bayless than Martell.

Martell will probably get more minutes at the 3, because Roy will play all his minutes at the 2.
But the bulk of the back-up 2 minutes are likely to go to Bayless. Phoenix plays fast and there is no one on the Blazer roster faster than Bayless (except Mills). Remember, Bayless got 29 against Phoenix last time.

Funny thing is when it comes to consistency, you can throw Batum’s name in there too.
Points one night, maybe points the next…
When Marty plays Marty scores. Fernandez is good but Marty can do the same if not more.

Batum's consistency will improve...

with more minutes. Love Rudy, but I hope this will get Nic more minutes. Can’t stand Nate pulling him first, every game, without regard to matchup or flow of game. Everyone knows that the first 10 possesions of every game go to LMA or Roy. Let the kid find a rhythem.

by blazinagain on Mar 20, 2010 6:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Pulling Batum is right up their with overplaying Blake on my list of Nate "head scratchers"

Batum has been incredible productive and efficient. Why he isn’t getting more minutes is definitely a mystery. The defensive fall-off when Rudy comes in and Roy guards the SF is noticeable.

by upper left corner on Mar 21, 2010 9:43 AM PDT up reply actions

In case you were wondering about the injury I can tell you it's a nagging one. I strained mine 3 days ago.

Took 2 days off. Then today went to go play basketball, stretched pretty decently, and pulled it again. It felt good too.

I fell bad for Rudy. This injury is a real pain. I can’t do anything. I can’t make any lateral movements to play defense. I can shoot a floater, and I can’t jump for a rebound. If I do it hurts like hell.

Yikes

Running around like crazy is half of Rudy’s game.

So how long we looking at?

This would really suck if he was gone more than 2 weeks.. or even more than 2 games
