I heard a Terry Gross interview on NPR with Kathryn Bigelow the director, and the writer.
They rode out with a bomb crew in Iraq and the technicians call the moment in this picture “the lonely walk”. As in no one is coming to help you. You are all alone. It’s you versus the bomb.
