Very weird, all impressions is that they were happy with him.

Hmmmmmmm....thanks for the link Clarky. Good find.

I just don’t quite know what to think of this. Was it differences in philosophy? A perceived mistake? A huge argument? A strictly financial decision? ( very possible ) I hope he was smoking a cigarette right when they said “You’re fired!!”, and he put his cigarette out on the nice gold embroidered oak desk and screamed back “You can’t fire me!!! I quit!!!”

It will be interesting to hear what happened. My first impression is that losing him hurts us a little. Maybe not now that we are likely done making major draft day deals.

To happen this suddenly.

My guess is personal indiscretion detrimental to the organization. Firing might be the easiest way to keep it quiet-ish.

Wearing the black band for Jarrett Jack, Ime Udoka, Fred Jones, Sergio Rodriguez, Channing Frye, Luke Schenscher, Shavlik Randolph, James Jones, Josh McRoberts, Steven Hill, Jarron Collins, Michael Ruffin, Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw. Sacrificed to the unmerciful god of progress.

I still think losing him is HUGE

Penn has possibly the best knowledge of the salary cap (it’s rules, exceptions, loopholes etc.) of any non-GM front office guy in the league, and I think losing that knowledge will hurt.
Although it is a loss for the organization, I hope he finds his feet somewhere else and remains successful, but it would be interesting to get more information about the situation around this.
Hopefully Jason Quick and the rest of the Blazers writers can shed more light on the situation when they get more info.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
