Batum...most improved?
I know Nic has started late this year, but given what he is doing, shouldn't he be in this conversation? He guards the best player on the opposing team; his offense is incredibly efficient; he plays great man-to-man and help defense. Tonight he was the only Blazer who could put the screws on Turkalu...and, as recently published on this web site, his offensive numbers are off the charts....At least, he should get the game ball tonight:)

Agreed
though Blatche has been pretty damn good too. no way Durantula takes it, he’s got no defensive chops, period, and his offense has been steadily improving, not drastically improving.

I wish..
but Nic hasn’t played enough and I am pretty sure Andrew Bogut or Marc Gasol will win it. Nic has made a great case for it with his play so far.

I think Durant deserves the award
His growth from season to season has been amazing. He’s gone from good but overrated as a rookie to borderline all star last season to 2nd best offensive player in the league this year (behind LeBron of course).
Batum has a ton of potential, he might be able to win the award next year if he’s healthy. Oden also has a chance if he doesn’t break both his ankles or blow out his shoulder or need microfracture again or… :-(
has an infected big toe.
i’m looking at you, yao ming.

I read an article saying Durant wouldn't get it due to the fact that it would be kind of insulting, that his stature as a player has outgrown the award.

Please understand this is my O.C.D.
but is Hedo TURKOGLU….not Turkalu. But overall yes Nic should be MIP in a land slide.

To that point......
True story: i was playing NBA 2ksomething one year and i was getting killed by Turk and said something along the lines of “freaking Hedo Turk-o-glu” and my wife heard me and said “honey, stop making up names” as i am a bit of a nut and something like that would be of the norm for me. Then i called her over and showed her the player screen for Hedo, she laughed her @ss off!

One of the many reasons Nic won't win MIP
MIP honors doesn’t usually go to a player in his second year. It is assumed that a player will make a healthy leap between his first and second year, so for considering MIP, you have to try to subtract that expected growth from the total improvement. Nic has really made progress, and it’s helping the team quite a bit, but between being a sophomore and missing so much of the year, I don’t expect him to be part of the conversation.
Still on the Rex bandwagon.
No way Nic deserves it
he will have only played roughly half the season when all is said and done. Had he played the whole season then yeah, maybe he would deserve the award but for now the top two (as previously mentioned) are Blatche and Durant.
Andrew Bogut went from being a letdown as a no.1 pick to a defensive force and a great post scorer
He should win in a landslide.
Here’s to Greg doing the same next year.
naw
Greg going from all-star level player but injured to all-star level player doesn’t really constitute improvement. Just hope he stays healthy and contributes bigtime next year.
Perception is reality
Greg wasn’t going to be an All-Star this year IMO. He was playing at that level but limited minutes hurt his raw numbers which is what it takes to make an All-Star game. That fact is that if Greg can play 70 or so games next season (big if I know) and play the 30+ minutes he was starting to before he went down I think MIP is definitely in play. Plus if Greg got a full season and produced the way we know he can then it would be such an improvement on what he has offered so far that he’d be a shoo-in
