Abbott: Roy Gets to the Hoop

5
Henry Abbott on TrueHoop applauds the Blazers' late-game rim-attacking... --------------------------- Roy did a bit of the juking and tricking which made him famous. The Warriors are hardly the first to fall for his fakes. But he does get two big buckets in the paint, against five guys, without even getting above the rim. --------------------------- "A bit of juking and tricking... without even getting above the rim": That's about as accurate a description of Roy's on-ball genius as you'll read. As impressive as his late-game in-paint array was Roy's earlier dead-eye mid-range shooting. It's been a long while since we've seen Roy that hot. His game is at its old-school best when he is keeping defenders honest throughout the possession with his ability to rise quickly for his pull-up. His shot chart from last night should be hanging in the Portland Art Museum. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
