Magic coveting Clippers' Steve Blake?
Rumor is our buddy Steve Blake will be coveted by Orlando in the offseason.
"I have a lot of respect for the Magic and their coach [Stan Van Gundy],'' Blake told FanHouse. "I take pride in being able to give a team what it needs in any role.''

I was hoping
we’d get Blakey and not have to overpay this summer :(
maybe Trout is still in the plans then
[to be honest I wouldn’t come back after being traded though]

Why can't some fans get over this thought?
Why would the Blazers go out and resign Blake and Outlaw this summer? So they can “reset” this season? What the BLazers need to do is go out and sign a player that can help this team move forward, in its progression toward a championship, if that player is even out there.

That's right, Dre's a guard..
Camby was the forward move… (Ok, forward/center… it just didn’t have the same ring to it..)
hey, i'm just sympathetic
to a guy who was a great Blazer during his time here.
he could be a good backup pg still, but agreed, its time for the team to progress with other directions.
I say forget Blake and Dre, let’s go for Collison!

with Joel's status in flux
I would hope Portland uses the MLE on a veteran banger…even if they also resign Camby
If they can’t get Blake to sign for the 2.08 mil exemption…then it’s probably best for Steve to chase his title dreams elsewhere

i hope by veteran banger
you really mean unproven joel freeland and not a out of shape ex military porn star
Flip cam FTW
i'd love to sign a guy like
Reggie Evans, that guy can Bang!
But I would rather sign someone to replace what Howard is giving us this year, a smart vet who will be ready if injuries come.

he would do good in that system
give it to dwight, and everyone else stand at the 3 point line
Awesomeness (ô'səm-nes)
1. n. Something that inspires awe
2. n. Nicolas Batum
Isn't he from Florida?
Be like a home coming. He would be perfect for their anti- fast break team. Pull it out, pass it to Dwight.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
i think he is from maryland

He's from Miami
He was teammates with Udonis Haslem in HS. Went to Maryland to be at a better ACC basketball school than the University of Miami.
went to maryland because he attended one of those south east high school basketball factories after being banned from all florida high schools for recruitment violations.
dinasour type of guys choir boys
Oh my goodness!
Steve, that’s a “character issue” there! ;-)

wow. from wikipedia
i knew blakey went to hs in miami and then finished at oak hill, but i always assumed it was to play with better players
caveat: everything on wikipedia is 100% true ;=)
From wikipedia:
Blake attended Miami High School, where he played with another future NBA player, Udonis Haslem. Miami won consecutive state championships, but after the Miami New Times exposed the fact that Blake and other players were using fake addresses to enroll in the school, one of the titles was expunged.12 After being banned from playing again anywhere in the FHSAA, he then attended Oak Hill Academy before coming to Maryland.

NEVER have understood why Orlando doesn't take that approach more often!
It’s criminal how few shot attempts he gets on many nights!
good for him
Hopefully it works out. I just hope he doesn’t stay with the Clippers, nobody deserves that much suffering.
Lover of everything Batum.

I dunno . . .
I think Lebron might deserve it. Maybe then he can put things in perspective a bit.

LeBron has a clause in his contract
which specifically forbids anyone in his life EVER putting anything into perspective for him.
That would be a great fit for Blake...
I hope the Magic drop some cash on Blake. They could offer a MLE right?
The magic do need a back up for Nelson
he keeps coming down with injuries. Blake is a great fit for their system. Low mistake player who can set up the offense and space the floor with his 3 ball.
"In Batum's case he must realize he is very likely the first Blazer to successfully fight over a pick all season..."

Why are we so surprised?
Wasn’t this in the all the trade ideas? Everyone was always trade Blake for Bass straight up. They need a guy like Blake to back up Nelson, blah blah blah. I’m not surprised he would be a perfect back up there. The only thing that had us overlook the trade was Orlando’s unwillingness to trade Bass. Which never signified that they don’t want a guy like Blake.
I’m glad that he’s getting some attention as a FA and possibly can go home to FL. I personally do not want him back here though.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Blake could be a great backup for us
But with Miller starting and Rudy and JB coming off the bench, we don’t have room. Orlando would be a great fit for steady steve.
agreed
if there was a clause in Nate’s contract that he could only play Blake 15-20 mpg (assuming the other guards are healthy) then by all means bring Steve back
but since the trend has been well-established that Nate will play #2 more than that…it’s hard to get behind a return of Blakey. Even though he would be a solid addition at backup PG
Having said this, it would not surprise me if KP makes Steve an offer in July. Especially if Bayless/Rudy struggle running Nate’s offense in the playoffs
