Trade Drawer: Feb 5th - 3rd Wheel Boomerang Przy/Blake - Dalembert
I didn't see a recent trade drawer and thought POR could help seal an existing trade rumor; with Amare-Iguodala involved. As presented, the Sixer side totals $24.3M vs. PHX $16.4M. PHX would have to be throwing back some garbage PHI's way to make it work. Is it possible that's what PHI is objecting to?
POR could split the difference by subsituting Dalembert's $12.1M contract with Przybilla's $6.8M contract, and sending Blake to PHI where Blake could be their marksman and mentor to PHI young PGs (Lou Williams, Jrue Holiday).
POR would ideally keep Outlaw - but could also send him away if either the PHX/PHI side needed to be sweetened. My assumption is that PHX wants to do this purely to get Iguodala and Dalembert is part of that price. Przybilla lessens that price by having the smaller contract. If he is a quick healer he may even choose to opt out of his contract; in which case my understanding is he would be an unrestricted free agent. He could even end up back in POR (?) I'm convinced that acquiring any of the Centers mentioned in Norsktroll's excellent post would be most beneficial if done as a part of a 3 way deal. As fans we should root for a Ilgauskus & Hickson-Jamison deal or for Iguodala to be moved; as it frees up the respective big men on those teams.
10-11 Possible Roster
PG: Andre Miller/ Jerryd Bayless/ Patty Mills
SG: Brandon Roy/ Rudy Fernandez/ Draft pick
SF: Martell Webster/ Nicolas Batum/ Dante Cunningham
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge/ Travis Outlaw*/ Jeff Pendergraph
C: Greg Oden/ Samuel Dalembert/ Joel or Joel - Freeland or Przybilla* (resigned for MLE)
* Outlaw or Przybilla (assuming he opts out) would need to be resigned. It's a long shot that both would be resigned; but if so Freeland could marinate for another year overseas and possibly step in after Dalembert's contract expires in '11.

early termination optionAnyone know? When is Joel's deadline to make a decision on his? Will he be healthy/ brave enough exercise it?
I think it’s sometime in July – I would think if he could pass a physical by then he would be best served by asking for a new contract. Is that even realistic given his recovery timetable?

interesting
portland can sweeten things by throwing some euro’s towards phoenix or philly. koponen definetly wants to come to usa next season. no spot in portland for him. philly may also want cunningham to work that local angle.

I think it's the Suns that want Richardson (and his contract) to be included.
I think the sixers would rather have Joel’s contract than Richardson’s.

The Przybilla boomerang...now why didn't I think of that? Hmmmm
Portland only has one MLE in July, so if they trade 2 of Joel/Blake/Outlaw they could offer it to more than 1 guy, but only use it once

no way anybody accepts Joel with his injury AND his ability to opt in for next year

They do if they are trying to save money
and it gets them out of a bad contract. 1 year at 7 mil is better than dalemberts 1 year at 13 mil. Throw in 3 mil in cash considerations and you could take up to 9 million off of the 76ers bottom line next season…

At this point you have to take into account the situation in Haiti
Dalembert has been going there to help out every week. I kind of doubt that the sixers deal him at this point due to how bad it could make the organization look. Especially to a team located on the west coast. But, then again, who knows if they even care about public perception… They did go after iverson again. That being said, I think if Portland could land him they definately should pull the trigger. With Sammy coming off the bench for G.O. Portland could be one of the top 3 rebounding teams in the league.

that was my take, as well
Living in Portland would add half a day to Sammy’s trips to and from Haiti. There’s no telling how much the Sixers would take this into consideration, but KP tends to target players who “want” to be in PDX and it’s difficult to see Dalembert being very excited about playing for a team that’s located at the farthest outpost in the NBA from his island country

one problem with the deal is that Freeland has to "marinate"
Even though he’s not ready for the NBA yet, his draft profiles indicate that the contract situation with his team in Spain makes this summer the time to bring him over. Otherwise, he could end up getting a contract over there that dwarfs the rookie scale.

didnt he just sign a multiple year deal last summer?
