Ok ... The Blazers are in the 8th spot right now. We're standing on the ledge, waiting for Roy to talk us down. Batum and Fernandez have taken their turns, but even with their energy and hustle we still find ourselves on this ledge after every loss.
I'm sure everyone else is just like me. Every night I look at the standings to see how everything is falling into place. Sometimes we're in sixth, sometimes fourth ... now eighth. Everything is packed so tightly that there is no margin of error. Every single game matters, not only for us, but also for every other team.
So, as we sit in the 8th spot right now it suddenly occured to me ... is that such a bad thing? Aside from home court advantage, does it really matter who we play? Looking at the other teams we're racing against, the only one that really scares me is Utah (for obvious reasons). Everyone else I would give an equal chance at victory (or defeat). Would it be better to be in the fifth or sixth spot? I don't think it really matters.
So climb down off that ledge. Don't worry about Phoenix or Oklahoma City. Did Dallas or San Antonio win last night? Who cares. Just enjoy the rest of the season, knowing that the Blazers have a good chance against anyone once the playoffs start.
Now ... if Houston, Memphis or New Orleans get hot ... make room on that ledge. It will get crowded.
