My parents pack it in, it feels like. They both come from farming families so once they moved out of Portland itself and to the “countryside”, they went crazy.
Goats, rams, alpacas, tons of chickens and ducks… the ducks got ated by eagles and raccoons, rams were too vicious so we sold ’em, goats are super nice, chickens are dumb as rocks.

what kind of crap possession was that by us?
come on, that is just pathetic. walk it up slow, pass it around 30 feet from the basekt, then chuck up a low percentage jumper?
look what chicago is doing – attacking!!!

Uggh, in all seriousness though.
We could still win this game, although with the way Rose is playing I wouldn’t expect it. Rose is S T U D.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
One comment, only one comment, and I am done for the day...
Marcus Camby is pathetic as a goalie.
Add obscene emphatic where appropriate.
There’s a reason that guy is a loser from the start of his career to its finish.
That is all.

On the last two possessions
Roy didn’t touch it and then he touched it just to pass it to Dre. We have two ball dominators playing with Roy instead of shooters.

WOW! What a shocker! LA disappeared in the second half, Brandon Roy
standing around hoisting dumb shots, Nate not making proper adjustments. Who could have seen that coming?
why do we stop posting LMA in the 4th?

exactly my question
it’s not really fair to say he disappeared when it’s more the fact that the team ignores him
This is three games in a row they stopped
both NJ and Tor couldn’t stop him in the 3rd, then they stopped going to him and started doing the iso and jumper offense. Late in this game he hasn’t tried to get inside, but in the 3rd he still was and they just forgot him.

LMA was catching the ball too far out, or couldn’t establish position.

To be fair
People who are unhappy about Nate are also feeling that way after wins, but typically it’s not nice to sit there and complain about coaching after a win.
Nate has problems
But I think 90% of the people complaining have no clue what they’re complaining about, so it’s funny.
It becomes a meme, a trend.
But, that’s how things go. More people, more funniness.

I'm far from an expert
and if you asked me to sit down and diagram the Blazers’ offense on a napkin, I couldn’t do it. But I watch a lot of basketball. And when I watch other good teams — the Spurs, the Suns, the Lakers — I see a much more fluid offense than what we run. I think a lot of people can’t necessarily articulate what specific changes we need to make to have our offense be more productive, but this just isn’t getting enough out of all the talent we have.

Inconsistent bench play in a roster that's supposedly "deep"
It seems so obvious that a driving PG and banging, aggressive PF would help at least 10-13 more wins on the season. There are great spot up shooters coming off the bench, but that can only help you so much.
It wouldn’t hurt LaMarcus to work on opening up the 3 point shot to earn that max contract, either.
Life is hilarious.
We may come back to this later in the JD, since it would be an intersting topic.
Something other than cassingles.
I rarely blame him, but I’m over our offensive sets. Maybe we need to hire a great offensive coordinator and a VP of substitutions, but then what else is left to do for a head coach?
We clearly need a different offense.
That is true. Even when it works, it doesn’t work as well as it could.
#52
It’s incredibly obvious how tough the shots are that they need to take in crunch time. Willing them in with pure talent and luck. Against the Bulls! Sorry, but in the playoffs that will just come back to play out like against Houston.
It relies on Roy being at peak performance at beating people on his own
He can, but it isn’t smart to do.
And yeah, as we’ve seen, in the playoffs a good team will just focus on him, and our other guys can’t do it on their own. They need a play to run, a set to fall back on.
#52
Nate chooses to play Roy who shouldn't even be out there let alone...

I'm not going to say suck
but yeah, this is on Brandon, Andre, and Bayless for not passing the freaking ball and Nate for either calling it that way or doing absolutely nothing to change it
Well,
Roy did pass to Rudy out at the three point line near the end of regulation but he was busy picking his nose and wasn’t ready to shot the three. Then stepped on the line. Turn over.

blaming the coach
for the last two possessions is absurd. the ball was in roy’s hands to decide what to do. he just wasn’t on tonite and if not for a miracle play on the missed FT.
he should take the bullet for this one, he forced countless bad shots tonite and didn’t seem to have a good awareness of the situation.
Except every time we play a competent team
They have a play DRAWN UP for the last second shot. We just get “Roy vs the world”
their last play was rose against the world
at the end of regulation. how is that different than what we do?
isolation for rose is drawn up
isolation for roy is “roy against the world”
explain
That's why they almost choked away the game
And every play before that, the coach clearly told Rose: “When they bring the double, pass to Noah, and then Noah passes to the open man when help comes”. That’s called coaching. How come when teams double Roy he never finds the open man? Maybe because all 4 other guys are just standing at the baseline?
those plays where Rose was doubled out top
are a great example. Noah flashed to high post, Rose hits him, then Noah looks for the hi-low pass or the weakside wing. it worked very weel.
Roy gets doubled exactly like that all the time – do we EVER see us run that type of play out of it? No, it’s either Roy dribbling backwards and resetting or hitting LMA or Howard/Camby at the top 3 point line – way too far out to do anything, and the defense just resets.
"I want to be traded to a contender" is almost always code-speak for "I'm a loser."

Point is...
Nate should’ve called a timeout to draw up a play for the last possession. Of course, he doesn’t know any plays, hence the “go for it” last-minute screw-up by BRoy.
It is, very mush so, on the coach.

How many game winners has Roy hit?
Your argument is invalid. In my opinion.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
This season?
Not many.
How many big 4th quarter/OT leads have we blown? A hell of a lot more.
I have no issue with Roy taking the "game winning shot"...
However, that is only one play. When you run 12 minutes of 1-on-5 ISO with Brandon, you tend to leave everyone else out of the mix; thus causing them to go cold, get out of rhythm, or whatever other cliche you’d like to lose.
Even the Lakers run the Triangle offense and allow Kobe to deviate when he sees fit. We don’ do that, it’s just run a BRoy ISO and hope he makes the right decision, which he has done a poor job of so far this season.
by OmoriumVerum on Feb 26, 2010 8:01 PM PST up reply actions
Well that would be fine.
If it was actually for 12 minutes. I don’t really feel like debating on the situation, I do think Brandon running these plays right now when he’s not 100% is a mistake.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
It's for the majority of the 4th quarter...
I also agree that running these plays for Brandon when he’s not 1005 is a mistake as well. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate that Nate is trying to get Brandon’s “mojo” back, but I would feel much more comfortable with his “coaching” if the playoffs weren’t on the line.

LMA was sooooo good for three quarters, but he reverted to getting pushed out of position and not boxing out. Just kills me.

the guards got him the ball like four times, and he heaved really bad shots too far away from the rim. Noah was pushing him out, not letting him get good position.
#52 #10 #7
four shots
how many of them were last second shots that they dished off to him because their iso plays failed and he had to jack up that long 2?
Blame that on Nate.
Also, you have to take into account the number of minutes LA plays. I’m sure he’s pretty worn out by the end of the game. He’s the only player who consistently plays on the first and second unit.

Can anyone tell me why Rudy is subbed in near the end of regulation?
He hadn’t been playing well tonight. He’d been hesitating. Then, when he gets the ball, he hesitated again. Then he travelled. Was this the result of his talking to the Spanish media? If he’s looking for a chance to prove he deserves minutes, he’s not making a good case for himself.

That's what folks said about Utah, and Portland won the next two
They’re resilient. They don’t seem to let losses linger.

oh my bad
I was getting the memo of it’s time to fire Nate and trade Roy. See you in the finals, Cavs.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
after we win the title
nate will retire, to make all the nate-haters happy.

Jason Kidd's stat line 19pts 17 ast 16 reb
he hit 3 clutch 3’s in the final 4 minutes and made a heads up play by running into Hawks coach Mike Woodson (Who was trying to get off the court) to get the technical foul
"Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your best." Tim Duncan
Yeah it was an amazing game by him.
I know the stat line is really amazing but I still don’t think it does his game justice.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
the scoring is fine
but 2 rebounds?

"Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your best." Tim Duncan
won in ot that is
"Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your best." Tim Duncan
Man I kind of envy the Thunder right now
"Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your best." Tim Duncan
why
they will get blown out in game one of the playoffs. then split the rest of them to a loss in 6 games

I went there for a camp as a kid. Let me tell you, there is nothing to be envious about.

Big thing to keep in mind with them...
The only player in their top six to miss games this season?
Nenad Krstic
How many games?

at least they play loose and free and get a ton of easy baskets
and appear to have fun doing it. I’d take that over this any day of the week, especially since they have a better record, the best player on either team

Lakers beat Dallas if healthy, I say
And Cavs or Magic beat ’em too, if motivated.
Dallas and Nuggets would be a good series if they face off.

Fun game, both teams trying their hardest to give the game away.
Both franchises deserve better coaches, IMO.

i saw you!! you said that Portland "kinda sucks."
it’s ok, though. you can still play at our house. we aren’t feminine napkins like your Bull brethren.

Shocking, a team without half their roster kinda sucks.
Feel free to have as much self-righteous anger as you wish.

I mean the team I feel like they have stolen our spotlight
we are supposed to be the ones ballin right now
"Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your best." Tim Duncan
Too many guys on the team still treat the ball like a hot potato when it is crunch time
I like the addition of Miller instead of Hedo, but having that big point/forward down the stretch would come in handy…
now I realize this team is much better than ours
but do the blazers shoot a single jump shot in this video? mike fratello even recognizes it at the end

I'm going to the Laker vs Denver game in Staples Sunday
It feels weird, but a friend of mine has sick tickets and invited me, so I said what the heck? I don’t think I can bring myself to ever root for the Lakers, but Denver is our division rival…both are probably out of reach for us to catch at this point, so it’s probably safe to hope the Lakers lose. This sounds sad, but I told my buddy that I’ll be rooting for injuries. Does that make me a bad person?

two best teams in the west imo
Carmello has been Mr. Clutch in the 4th so it should be fun to watch he and Kobe go at it if the game is close at the end.
I just finished watching the game and if Brandon hits a couple of outside shots we win the game
And I really find the Aldridge hate here to be beyond belief after this game. He was awesome this game. We don’t even come close in this game without him.

aldridge was awesome......for 3 quarters
the the disappearing act comes through in the 4th.
can we learn how to go under a screen while guarding derrick rose? we must have run into 30 straight screens this game. the switching killed us
Ball handling and dribbling are my strongest weaknesses."—David Thompson
I agree. The screen is murdering us and all the scouts and good coaches know it.

Everyone disappeared in the fourth because we quit running our offense
To blame Aldridge for that is just flat wrong. Our sets are completely different in the fourth than any other time. No one gets the ball where they are comfortable with it except Roy at the top of the key. No one…..

I'm out....
nice chatting with you all. Let’s get a win in Minny tomorrow!
Yeah I agree fun game to watch
Blazers almost pulled off a win. Chicago was shooting great and got some of the calls. I dont blame the loss on the refs though I didnt like the fragrant on LA. I mean really LA? Cmon. Cmon. Other then that Chicago was hot , Rudy was playing again like the Rudy of this year. I want the old Rudy back please. Defense and scoring were not his forte tonight. Someone said he looked lost out there and I agree. Oh well tommorow is another game and the Blazers play better in a back to back game.
dont be so hard on roy blazer fans
he shouldnt have even had the opportunity to single handedly kill that game for you guys tonight with that not even close sorry 3 point attempt…this one should have been over in regulation! the only thing more sorry than roys brick was the sorry performance by the refs…LMA body slammed rose on that last play in regulation! consider that overtime a gift..so if u wanna blame anyone blame the refs for giving roy the opportunity to make himself look stupid!
