02/02/10: Game Junk Recap, With RIP City Poll - who are the untradeables?
Game recap:
WOW, what a great game last night. Aggressive on offense, decent on defense. Sure, a few turnovers to go with it, but who cares when you got your mojo going.
Were we channeling the spirit of the Suns from a few years ago or what? No, not really, it looked more like we were creating a new spirit of Blazer basketball, homegrown in the great state of Oregon. Yeah baby!
Excellent ball movement tonight. A little sluggish in the 3rd, but we got that straightened out.
Player observations:
Aldridge: Texas two steppin’
Miller: 42 points under his new one game average, but the consummate professional.
Baylesslessness: May win my heart over even yet.
Pendergragh: "I will break you ‘cause it’s fun."
Blake: “Watch me show and go.”
Batum: Cooler than the other side of an Eskimo pillow. The new untradeable.
Rudy: The-Amazing-Spaniards-Sensational-Highflying-Magical-Basketball-Show is back in town.
Cunningham: "Get that weak stuff outta here, I’m from Villanova."
Mills: "I can make it from behind this other line, REALLY, I can."
The poll below assumes Roy & Oden are a given and is more based on the younger players potential, rather than where they might be currently.

Ya think so?
You can only choose one and junk polls rarely get more than 30 votes.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
You could list all 15 players
Then combine
Roy-Batum
Roy-Oden
Roy-LA
Roy-Batum-Oden
etc
You wouldn’t have to combine Mills with anyone
You're too fast.
I’m assuming Roy & Oden are a given and just putting some of the others on.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Good point
But I personally think all the guys in the poll are worth trading for a Bosh level or higher player.
should LMA be in there?
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Nah
I think stick with the young guys, to be fair, you might want to add Mills. LA is ever so hated these days, some folks would trade him for Juwan Howard.
Even Batum? In 2 years he will blow our minds.

Would you trade LMA for Hedo?

No way
Last year LA was on my untradeable list with Rudy, Oden, and Roy. This year I still like LA and Rudy and wouldn’t mind them retiring as a Blazer, I just realize now that they might not reach their full potential.
I don’t’ mind LA
His turn around jumper is unguardable, and you can’t take that shot if you’re a little shorter. I just wish he was tougher inside and had a better handle on the ball.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
I still think if Oden is healthy, that LA's game fits well with Oden
I think Webster plays well enough to make Batum expendable. I’m actually more concerned with getting a real point guard since I’m not sold on Bayless.
Plus, I don’t think LA has been fully healthy yet this year either.
Bayless missed a wide open LA under the rim. (I think it was LA)
But he does bring a talent which teams have to respect – speed.
Although he’s getting better, court vision, true point guard play, I’m not sure we’ll ever see it. I like Martell, but he’s definitely on my tradable list.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Batum can drive, Martell can drive only if Moses parts the sea.

Yeah
But I think the Blazers can win a championship with Oden, Roy and Bosh, I don’t know if they can with Oden, Roy, and Batum.
It’s the ability to drive to the hole that breaks most teams down.
But you can’t just have one guy who can do it, you need 3 in my IMO.
And it’s been killing us as well this year. We can’t defend teams that take it to the hole, but with Nic back and Cunningham coming along, who knows.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
I can see that
I just don’t think that Batum is a guy that moves a team into championship mode. I don’t deny that he’ll get better, I just don’t think the SF position is as important as the other 4 positions.
Don’t get me wrong, I really like Bosh.
I just have this feeling Nic could turn out to be a special talent.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
I need more than 5 games
I don’t trust Euros. Nic obviously thinks his French team is more important then the Blazers and both Euros came back from the summer injured.
They have more national pride than we do.
I still remember Rudy in the slam dunk contest, I felt sorry him, and embarrassed for us – what a circus.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Both Euros WENT to Europe injured.
Batum’s shoulder was injured last year in the spring. Rudy’s back was injured when Ariza took him out! Maybe both should have had their injuries taken care of instead of playing in Europe but the play in Europe is NOT what caused the injuries!
Amen
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Yeah but is incredibly versatile
Which is a good thing to have at that SF position. Batum can D up on most anyone and so presents a really good defensive piece. In fact in a season or two he could be in the running for best defensive player with battier and artest (especially with the last few games where he has been able to shut down another team’s go-to guy for decent stretches) Combine his defensive ability’s with his offensive and you have a piece many teams would covet for playoffs. Dunno if Batum will be an All-star, but he might just be the type of player that coaches want the most. Is there a player that you would rather have playing the SF for us at the moment, especially one as cheap as Nic? If you trade either, trade Martell, because Nic is much better.
And while yes, in the abstract trinity of either Roy-Oden-Batum or Roy-Oden-Bosh the latter appears better, but thats because they dont play same position. And if you are advocating that we trade Aldridge and Batum for Bosh then I might have to shoot you. Two good starters for one?? Might have had me at Aldridge-Rudy because our alternative SG is better than Rudy, but Batum is better than his alternative. God Toronto would love for you to throw Aldridge and Batum at them first and then negotiate the third/other players.
three axioms
1) Championships are won by top 15 players
2) A dollar is worth more than four quarters in the NBA
3) A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush
All these point toward paying pretty much whatever it takes to get a guy like Chris Bosh. I would much rather have Bosh/Webster as my forwards than Batum/Aldridge.

I still think there's too many votes for Rudy
With all the Batum love going on, it’s gotta be a poll smoker.
Poll smoker is what you call someone who votes a lot in a poll right?
Why not trade Bayless, Travis, Pendy/Martell for Bosh.
I can’t see trading Batum.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Bosh will take LA plus someone with lots of upside
They would want LA for sure.
I think either of these trades are fair
Bosh and Banks for LA, Miller, Blake, and Bayless
or
Bosh and Banks for LA, Miller, Blake, and Batum
If both trades, I think they’d have to cut Blake after the trade to get down to 15 guys. Outlaw would work in the trade and I think Jack would too. Fan’s would crap if Jack came back though.
yeah, LA+Batum for Bosh is still a win for Portland, though I'd rather deal Rudy or Bayless instead of Batum

given an argument to the SF being an important position on a team..just depends on who the SF IS!

so stupid
it also increases the odds for vote-splitting and allowing some weird movie nobody wants to be a winner with like 18% of the vote.
i wish they'd release the voting for nominations.
just to see what the top 5 vote getters were. I’d have to guess they mirror the directing nominations. I’d have to think movies like The Blind Side and District 9 were near the bottom of that top 10. It was a down year for quality movies.
Also never understood
why they have a separate award for Best Director. It’s just a way to hedge when they feel conflicted about the best movie of the year—Brokeback Mountain won Best Director while Crash won best picture being the example I can think of off the top of my head.
it's fairly uncommon for the two awards to split, but it does.
it is sometimes warranted. such as Spielberg winning for SPR instead of the best picture winning Shakespeare in Love winning best director as well. (of course, SiL shouldn’t have won best picture over SPR, but whatever.)
actually, looking through the winners
it seems like the person that won best director probably should have won best picture too. but sometimes they don’t. so perhaps the directing award is a better indicator. except this year when the person that will likely win wins.
unless, of course, it was a ridiculously stupid oversight on both awards
like when Scorsese lost to Redford and Costner on director and picture and Titanic won both.

Let's do this
Instead of saying “who’s untradeable,” let’s say “who would you have to get back if you did trade him?” This takes into account the ability, potential and age of players comng back in the trade. No concern for injury.
Roy: LeBron, CP3
Oden: Same
Batum: Someone on the all-star or all-star snub level—maybe Andre Iguodala would be the worst player I would package him for.
Aldridge: I’m not going to say anything here, I think all our judgments are clouded.
Bayless: Need to get a PG prospect back here. John Wall anyone? I’d throw him into a deal for Bosh, or trade him straight up for like Devin Harris or maybe Ty Lawson.
Fernandez: Decent big we could keep for a few years—Nazr Mohammed? Brandon Bass (probably not good enough)? Okafor?
Andre Miller: Similar to Fernandez. Gortat? They need a PG right?
Alright, flame away
by atomiccafe on Feb 2, 2010 8:08 AM PST reply actions 1 recs
I think you are undervaluing Rudy in this one
We shouldn’t have to pay that much for a rent-a-big……plus Bayless for Lawson I’m a little iffy on …not enough separation so why bother
" Welcome to the Bedge....where good, is never good enough"…Rudiculous
I didn't mean rent-a-big
Those would be guys we want to keep.
Maybe Nazr Mohammed isn’t good enough, and Okafor’s contract is pretty poor, but I am talking about a longer-term guy.
His knees will self destruct if he comes here.
A positive attitude will not solve all of your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort - Herm Albright
Keep the faith.
Nazr is a good backup
But I think he’s about 32 or so… getting a New Joel makes a lot of sense, so we need to hope the Magic fail terribly and we go get Gortat because they don’t wanna keep paying their backup center so much.

yes getting another big for this year and next is fine

Yeah, I do
More than a Nazr type for sure. That’s a trade ya do because Rudy is so unhappy that everything is ruined for him in Portland.
I don’t see him being moved anytime soon. We will try to make it work.
#52
As much as I love B-Rex, Bayless for Wall, I'd do in a second.
Though I wouldn’t trade him for Lawson.
Fernandez has that marketability that makes him that much more valuable. Players that can handle their own in the NBA AND do so with some flair are worth more. Okafor for Rudy straight up would be interesting if the salaries matched. I’d have to think about that one.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
yeah you could make Rudy for Okafor work
we’d have to throw in a couple expirings, which they would love and would pretty much be the reason they would do it.
I think Mortimer’s head just exploded.

Iggy is good
He’s already a top 10 wing defender, and a top 30 player. He also fits our time-table. Perfect partner for Roy on the wings—Cadillac role player.
Iggy is about twice as good as Batum at this point.
One of the best defenders in the league, not to mention that he has a higher rate than Roy. It would pretty much make us immediate contenders next season, probably favorites to win the West.

How about this scenario: Minnesota winds up with the number one pick in next year’s draft. Do they still pick Wall? If they do, who do they trade to us? Rubio, or Flynn, or Wall? And who do they want in return? – Elgin
GOP in HD
Silly Elgin
You forget that Minny’s goal is to have a team comprised soley of PGs and SFs. This works out perfectly for them
I like that idea because it gives a better chance to evaluate the talent we would want to get in return (instead of silly trade rumors) even if they are not on the trade block.
P.S. Love your pic, Neko Case is hot.

I guess that depends on what is more important to you.
1. Win it all now and potentially flame out, a la Celtics
2. Progressively increase wins and shape a longer term contender, a la Spurs
I get the paper, so I don't care!
my favorite untouchable was
Andy Garcia. he was pretty awesome. Sean Connery gets all the love, but i think Andy Garcia was cooler.
Honestly, if you could promise me we could make a trade
That could net us one single title in the next several years, I would take it.
I’ve been waiting my entire life for a Blazer victory parade (I was born in 1981) and so if we ended up being Boston I’d be okay with that.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
i've thought about this too.
which would I rather be: Detroit, Boston, or the Spurs?
I think it’s fairly obvious Portland is trying to be the Spurs, but injuries are derailing those chances. If I had to choose between Detroit and Boston though, I’d choose Detroit: won a title and sustained excellence in the eastern conference, but didn’t get another title. I think that’s better than a title and (what appears to be) quick flame out like with Boston.
But Boston knew that was the case
They took a huge gamble in making those deals and it paid off.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
and what if it didn't pay off?
they’d look foolish. I’d rather have one title and several years of near titles than one title and several years of mediocrity. Danny Ainge is about to show how good or bad a GM he really is. But this time he doesn’t have Kevin McHale to bail him out…..
I know
And that’s why I like our long-term approach. Don’t get me wrong. There isn’t a single player on this team that I don’t like.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Its why I can't but respect the Spurs
Even though I really really don’t like Manu “Bat Boy” Ginobli.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
i don't like him either.
they showed a 10 top plays thing on the jumbotron last night at the game and Manu had one. It was him saving a ball that was going out of bounds. full out horizontal dive to save it to a teammate. reminded me of Dennis Rodman. It was probably the most respect I’ve had for anything Manu has done.

yeah, but you can look foolish either way, right?
The Bulls have been stuck in neutral for years—they are on their second generation of prospects now, having traded half the first ones to start over.
Also, it’s not an “either or” situation. The Nuggets, for example, built around home-grown talents like ’Melo and Nene, but it took a proven vet in Billups to kick them toward the upper echelon.
yeah, i guess.
i mean, no method is 100% effective. i’m just saying i’d rather build through the draft and smart signings (Spurs/Detroit) than make one or two huge trades in the hopes of getting a title (Boston) even though it might not be good for the future. You take risks either way. The Nuggets are doing well, they just haven’t gotten over the hump yet. same with the Blazers: injuries are all that is killing them now.
yeah, for sure
I think you have to do it through a combination, but your core should definitely come through the draft. Also, the “big splash” method isn’t really viable for a team like Portland. We’re not super attractive to free agents and such. We have to pile up our chips and make the smart move for a piece that fits (like Detroit did with Sheed and San Antonio has done with their role players).

That Rudy Gay sure pulled a boner!
I remember Clyde did that one game, from halfcourt… he or someone else got the steal, about 10 seconds left (the tenths of a second were ticking), he saw the tenths ticking and chucked it from halfcourt and then realized what he did and did his sheepish Drexler laugh.

So as I said yesterday the NCAA Tourney is getting expanded and probably going to be on ESPN
Which I thought was fine til I realized that would mean Dicky V calling the championship game.
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Dicky V is painful to listen to.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Packer is retired thank God
I’ve played enough 2k10 btw to know that Clark Kellog (who strangely is the color guy in that game) really IS that predictable.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
the worst part about almost every college basketball commentator
is their constant desire to invoke the coach every time a player makes a great play.
Kevin Harlan and Gus Johnson being the exceptions. Those guys are gods.
And Bobby Knight as a color guy
Is just great. His combination of knowledge and snarkiness is fun.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
no one will ever no the joy
of growing up with Kevin Harlan as a local radio guy night in and night out (announcing the Timberwolves in Minnesota). He’s toned down his act SOOOO much now that he’s national.
I don't find that hard to believe actually
Jon Miller is kind of like that in baseball. The difference between when he calls Giants games and when he’s on ESPN is huge.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
In my opinion he's good in both cases
But he’s a fairly big homer on Giants games, in a funny way.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
He's hilarious for Giants games.
I remember a game against the Dodgers, where Barry Zito walked 2 guys in a row, both who had bad numbers against him to get to someone with great numbers against him and Dave Fleming pointed that out, Miller was like “so, you’re saying you detect a flaw with that…”
It was way funnier when he said it.
In general, when Miller does Giants games (on the radio), he’s less formal.
Free AK1984
i'd probably like him for Giants games then.
i can’t stand him for ESPN. he’s got a great voice though.

They are pretty funny and have a good on-air chemistry. Pretty big homers in a lovable way.

Kuip was a 2B who was great in the field and hit for decent average
but hit only 1 career HR, which they always make fun of him for when someone hits his first career HR or a pitcher hits one
Kruk pitched for 10+ years I think and won 20 games in his best year.

Kwisatz Haderach is the name of a prophesied messiah in Frank Herbert’s fictional Dune universe. In the series, the matriarchal Bene Gesserit hope to create a male who can survive the deadly ritual spice agony that changes a capable female acolyte into a Reverend Mother. A female Bene Gesserit is limited:
She … was confronted immediately with a cellular core, a pit of blackness from which she recoiled. That is the place where we cannot look, she thought. There is the place the Reverend Mothers are so reluctant to mention — the place where only a Kwisatz Haderach may look.1
The Sisterhood theorize that such a male would possess absolute prescience, seeing all possible futures thus being able to cause select threads of time to be realized through manipulation. The Bene Gesserit intend to use their Kwisatz Haderach to make their order more powerful than the other factions within the Old Empire.
In the texts, Herbert also refers to the Kwisatz Haderach as “the one who can be many places at once.” He provides the following definition in Terminology of the Imperium, the glossary of the 1965 novel Dune:
KWISATZ HADERACH: “Shortening of the Way.” This is the label applied by the Bene Gesserit to the unknown for which they sought a genetic solution: a male Bene Gesserit whose organic mental powers would bridge space and time.2

In many elevators yes, BUT if you hold the close door button and your floor button the whole time the door is closing

They're starting to drop in price
But it’s still very low in capacity if you want inexpensive.
I don’t need a lot of local data on the laptop, since I have network storage and 802.11n wireless. I’m going to simply do an Intel 40GB SSD, which just released and is $125.
I don’t see a point in buying a more expensive one, since the prices will likely rapidly drop as capacities increase over the next year or two.

Pierce's foot possible broken, Boston may be done
Link: Source: Celtics’ Pierce may have broken left foot
Quote:
<the Boston Celtics may have lost All-Star forward Paul Pierce for a significant period of time to a broken left foot, according to a league source.
The team does not know for sure if Pierce’s foot is broken after X-rays taken Tuesday; more tests are scheduled. But it “looks that way,” the league source said.
The Celtics are hopeful that even if the foot is broken that Pierce won’t be out of the lineup for long. But they are not yet certain of that.
Pierce suffered the injury in the first half of Boston’s 99-88 victory over Washington Monday night when he got tangled up with the Wizards’ Caron Butler going for a loose ball. He said after the game that he thought he sprained the ankle but didn’t believe the injury was serious./blockquote>

so, it’s obvious that Nicolas Batum is the best player ever… but at what point does he surpass every other player in terms of historical significance to the league? Russell, Magic, Bird, Jordan…. there have been a lot of good, though inferior, players in basketball history.
So, what do we think? Thursday? Saturday? Early next week?

What's the rush?
There’s like 30 more games and Batum coming off the bench has not and will not cause the Blazers to lose.
I don’t care that much either way. Given the choice, Nic is a better player and should start. It’s not like it bothered Travis last year, though.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I think he's the starter, but I don't think there is any point rushing it
Make him the starter and the team has to adjust to him starting and Martell potentially being ineffective like Miller off the bench. I think Nate is waiting for Roy to come back, then they can adjust to Roy and Batum starting at the same time.
Martell could be the guy that gets his minutes cut drastically if he doesn’t play well. Nate loves him some Big Shot Trav, and Nic is ballin’.

Martell's ability to play doesn't seem linked to minutes.
He just has it some games and doesn’t other games. Playing 30 minutes a night probably won’t change it.
Since this season is pretty much a chance to experiment at this point, I’m not super bent out of shape that Batum isn’t starting. But if this team was healthy and at full strength, it would be unconscionable to have him come off the bench.

2-3 players from the Blake/Bayless/Miller/Rudy/Travis/Martell/Nic group need to be moved at least by opening day next year
and I would prefer at least 1 be moved sooner rather than later so the guys we’re keeping can get PT.
Free AK1984
I look at it this way
Travis and Blake are expirings who can make a deal work. Other teams will be looking for one or both of them, plus some combination of our “young prospects.” In order of value:
Nic
Bayless
Rudy
Martell
If we can get a nice frontcourt player for three of those guys, it would be wonderful, and probably mutually beneficial for all teams involved.
I really hope KP makes a move before the deadline

That's what I've been thinking too.
Maybe one level up. Basically, the only player we have that would be the equivalent of Green is Mills. I think we might go slightly above that.
Perhaps a level of a Dixon for Jones trade.
I just want a trade before the deadline
So I can get over it during a season that hasn’t gone well according to initial expectations. I need a little time to grieve before next year. This is especially true if Rudy or Nic goes.

why not start rudy
if Roy is hurt for much longer? He pairs better with Dre and that leaves Bayless on the bench for some punch.
I think it's the attacking shooting guard role that Roy plays
Bayless fills that role well too. The offense doesn’t need to be changed that much. Rudy is smart enough to know that.
sure, Bayless is more like Roy
but we start to look pretty listless if Blake and Fernandez are on the court together for more than about 1:30 of game time.

A positive attitude will not solve all of your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort - Herm Albright

for some weird reason
people think that Rudy could play point guard next to Roy. This must be based on the number of outrageous assists dishes out. Unfortunately, he turns the ball over quite a bit, makes pretty bad decisions in the half-court, and isn’t an effective playmaker if you run him off the 3 pt. line.
I think its because
The Blazers don’t need a Chris Paul talent at point and people see that and say “Hey Rudy could automatically do it for Blake!” I am more comfortable with Rudy at the 3 and Nic at point. If we clear the logjam there will be minutes. He has skills at each position.
A positive attitude will not solve all of your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort - Herm Albright

i see what you're saying
And I understand that we don’t need an Andre Miller/Steve Nash type long term. What we do need is someone with pretty good handles and good court instincts who can take the ballhandling pressure off Brandon. And there’s no indication that Rudy is this guy, particularly when you have Bayless, who’s potentially a Tony Parker type ancillary playmaker who might be a perfect running mate for Roy.
Rudy is actually sort of the opposite what we need, I think. What we really want is someone who can bring the ball up confidently and make decent decisions about where to get Brandon the ball. Rudy turns the ball over more than Jerryd on less useage and also assists less. He’s also 3 yrs older, so it’s less likely he’ll develop that much. So I guess what I’m really asking is why people see Rudy as the backcourt answer instead of Jerryd.
I would also say size isn’t really going to be a concern, as a backcourt of Nic, Rudy and Jerryd would be relatively big, and Jerryd is probably a better defender than Rudy anyway.
I'm not trying to argue for Rudy at point
Andre or Jerryd fill that future position. He is more of a backup utility wing/point for me. I’m just saying what I believe other people think based on what i’ve read off of this site.
I still love him to death though.

I've been pondering Rudy/Roy/Nic at the 1/2/3 in the future
There are pro’s and cons. Currently I wouldn’t trust anyone but Brandon bringing the ball up under pressure. Also Rudy and Nic seem to have chemistry in the open court rather than in half court sets. Still, if Nic develops into a legitimate point forward you could have 3 guys who can all handle the ball to some degree and pass well. Could be dynamic and progressive or could just fail miserably. I’m not sure.
Nic’s ballhandling is impressive. But I haven’t really seen him doing anything in halfcourt sets yet. Love the potential.

Oden is a prototypical guy who doesn’t need any touches to score. He gets broken plays and putbacks, although he can also be effective in the post on occasion. But I see what you’re saying.

He's got a player option this Summer
Fair bet that he’ll exercise it, which was much less certain before the injury.
It's going to be a very tough decision to trade Rudy
Many fans won’t forgive him unless a the team wins a title. And even then, the player he acquired will need to be an important cog in the title run.
With Rudy starting to drive to the hole, he gets harder and harder to trade.
Also, Rudy’s (and Batum’s) off the ball movement created a lot of opportunities on offense last night.
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
I think there are a lot of Spanish folks on at night
It was must me and Blazer1342 in here and Rudy had about 30 votes and everyone else had less than 5.
My thoughts exactly.
I thought it would be Batum by a wide margin, with Rudy and Bayless vying for 2nd.

The list of comparable players is indeed small. And often as I saw in my previous analysis, you end up with big men as his comparison because he is so darn efficient in his scoring.
If you exclude scoring at all and just go by Usage, AST%, and TOV%, you can e.g. end up with just those names:
Patrick Ewing (not 1 season, but almost every one of his seasons)
John Drew
John Brisker
Kevin Durant
Glenn Robinson
But that doesn’t include Durant’s current season yet.

I ask this of everyone watching
If someone doesn’t enjoy watching plane crashes, do you think the show is watchable? Or is the plane crash footage so vital to the show that you’ll see it repeatedly?
It's not showed that often
A few times in flashbacks; if that is a HUGE fear of someone I guess those scenes would bug them, but most of the people survive so it’s not that effective of a plane crash.
#52
Thanks to all.
I’ll pop on the first episode on netflix and see how bad it is, kind of a pre-screening. I’ve heard such good and bad about it over time.
it's a great show.
this person won’t really miss anything if they close their eyes during the plane crash stuff either.
I didn't like that one episode
Where it was just the plane ripping apart in slow motion while cutting to close ups of the passengers screaming in abject fear, and then in bright green letters THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU NEXT TIME YOU FLY kept flashing on the screen.
For a few minutes, fine, but the entire hour?!?!
#52
are you talking about lost? cause that's the only part I saw too, the tail ripping off the plane in mid-air, and I was all been there done that.
It’s true, I landed on an unmanned atoll in the south pacific and lived off of banana and coconut enema’s for two years. Then one day I went for a hike and it turned out I was on Tahiti, and I was all “Man….”

it shouldn't be a problem.
it’s mostly a vital plot point, but they don’t really dwell on it in my opinion. it’s more about the people that survived than the plane crash itself. you see it more than once, but none of them are worse than what you see in the pilot episode, as I remember.
i quit watching that show, when the ‘monster’ was revealed

i don’t know if i ever got behind the concept of it—i thought it very rigid. part of the discussion that some teachers suck, however, needed to happen, which was good i guess; especially in light of what the lady in dc is doing. it’d do us some good to see teaching as a great service instead of a nearly profitless/thankless profession though.

tenure means that teachers who have been around forever keep their jobs during cutback based on how long they’ve been there… while young teachers lose their jobs… the idea is that it provides job security so the old people don’t have to look for work… (cause the Greatest Generation is so SELFISH)
.
.
but with yearly reviews of teacher performance, you do bring up issues of job security, because the quality of the kids in the class can greatly affect the outcome of test results

but I do think it is more important to give attention to those that really need it rather than ignore them so the people that don’t need help can achieve their potential. in my mind, a truly gifted person doesn’t need public education in order to achieve their goals. they need the diploma, of course, but their true education will happen outside the classroom.
but they’d never get there, cause Greg, Roy, and LMA all push themselves to be better than everyone else (this is why Roy can sit out practice, Nate isn’t worried about him not being ready)
#7, #10, #25, #52,
ok so why focus on struggling kids?
bc they will never get to the point that the gifted student will be at.
really the only solution is to rework the way they divide up students and separate them according to learning capacity and put less emphasis on proximity to school.
I'm going on a Dave boycott until AK1984 is brought back.

Haha, you don't know that about the struggling kids, Phil.
I was a “struggling kid” and I am quite a bit smarter than most any 4.0 kid.
It depends on the kid, and some struggling kids need help.
I agree, the special kids should be pushed more, but some of the special kids struggle.
#52
this
really the only solution is to rework the way they divide up students and separate them according to learning capacity and put less emphasis on proximity to school.
Isn’t really true. Reducing pressure and integrating students (at least at younger ages) seems to help everyone’s development, not slow down bright kids.
separate but equal?
.
.
I agree that public school ain’t great, but I also think it’s a disservice to everyone if people get left behind so that smarter kids get a push… I want my fast food workers to give me correct change, and gas station workers to know whats flammable and what’s not…
#7, #10, #25, #52,
you focus on struggling kids because
without an education they slip through the cracks, maybe don’t graduate, and then have to deal living in current society without a diploma. which is not what it used to be. even many trade jobs don’t take non-diploma kids. getting the struggling kids to graduate is usually a huge achievement and takes more effort. really gifted students are gonna do fine one way or another.
And then everyone else has pay for those people.
It’s cheaper to help them now then pay for them later on.
#52
plus
it’s a priority in a civilized society that people gain a minimal level of education even if it has nothing to do with any vocation they’ll be doing. Also, democracy doesn’t work very well if people can’t gather and process information regarding politcial dcisions.
i don't know about the last part.
i don’t participate in politics at all and probably couldn’t have a decent political discussion. but that has more to do with personal preference than education.
ehhh I disagree
Even your informed apathy is a better result than someone with no education, who can be much more easily manipulated because they hardly understand what’s going on.
It’s one thing to dislike politics, it’s another to participate without grasping the consequences of the decisions you help make.
this is true.
i don’t participate at all, and part of that is because i don’t care enough to inform myself.
This is true.

Me and my brother did too. I’ve done better than he has later on, but looking back it was pretty clear we weren’t normal dumb kids.
The older of my younger sisters always had great grades, and the youngest had AWFUL grades until she joined the dance team and my Dr. Mom got her on ADD meds (we all “have it”, I guess, but she REALLY had it). After that she had near straight A’s.
Both of my parents were people who got really good grades, but me and my brother didn’t.

I was at the top of the class, and I remember still being frustrated by public education.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I think steps to make it more specialized for the student would be for the best
I have no idea how to do that, and with how many damn kids there are now and will be in the future… bottom line, we need a genocide.
#52
public school worked fine for me, because my learning style is auditory and conversational, and I never had an issue going after the teacher if I had a question to be resolved.
i was more frustrated because there were so many kids that could scoot by on pure talent without ever working, and that drove my analytical Type A personality nuts. I pushed myself way too hard even when I coulda coasted by, because I’m weird. Helped me in the long run.
#52 #10 #25 #7

perhaps. that wasn't my issue.
in the end, i think it’s largely the material that motivates a person. a teacher can greatly help, but if the material doesn’t inspire the student, it doesn’t matter how great the teacher is. I had good math teachers, but i hated the subject so i usually got B’s no matter what.
yes, but I also think smart people shouldn’t be looking to be stimulated in class, they should be seeking it outside the confines of standard education

#7, #10, #25, #52,
there are

frankly i am a fan of public schools for life purposes. meet kids of different backgrounds, intelligence, and financial support..

That seems to be the chief complaint against home schooling
and most people seem to have some andoctal experience with socially awkward home schooled folks, but nowhere have I seen a serious study that has tried to see if in fact home schooled kids actually are, on average, more or less socially awkward than their public/private schooled counterparts.
the home school kids i knew of
weren’t exactly socially awkward, but once they got out of the house and around a lot of other kids, they went sort of “nuts” as far as departing from the values and what not their parent’s had hoped to instill in them by keeping them out of public schools.
this happens a lot
its like when pent up kids go to college and the first month after their parents leave, they are dropping acid and swearing and hooking up with random people..

if i have kids
i’ll do what i can to avoid sending them to public schools. probably not home school, but a private school or some sort maybe.
if someone told me to do that
than i think i might have…but as an elementary student, its kinda hard for a kid to go out and learn on his own.
i remember one teacher i had in the 3rd grade was awesome. she brought me math textbooks that the district used for 3rd,4th, 5th, and 6th grades…and told me to do it at my own pace and disregard what the class was learning.
i remember finishing partway thru the 6th grade book…and then the next school year my 4th grade teacher seemed kinda pissed that i had already learned the material already and didnt allow me to continue where i was left off.

Did your teachers just stop calling on you?
That’s what happened with me, some of my teachers just wouldn’t call on me to participate, I’m guessing because they wanted to have other people participating, but it was very off-putting to me and my learning style. I always had to be actively involved in whatever exercises we were doing, and couldn’t stand to be a passive member of the class. While some kids were totally content to sit back and wait for the bell to ring I had to vocalize because for one thing, vocalization helps me solidify my thoughts.

I didn't do any homework in high school, that's the number one reason my grade's suffered.
I always tested in the top of the class. When I took my sat’s, (I only took them once) I scored in the top 5% of the country, but my gpa at the time was in the low two’s. My counselor called me to her office and asked “How the hell I did it” almost insinuating I had cheated. And I said, " I’m not stupid, I just stopped trying." Then I told her to look back through my records and it showed how I had been in TAG program’s and advanced classes all through my youth. It was like she had no idea, in fact I think it was the first time she had opened my file.

Here's how I cook rice.
I put the rice in a pot and cover it with enough water so that when I lay my hand on top of the rice my hand is just covered with the water. If it’s brown rice I add a little more water. Then I bring it to a boil, uncovered, and let it cook just until the water has evaporated enough that you see some little craters on top of the rice. Then I turn the heat to the lowest possible temperature and cover the pot and let it cook until done, 15 or 20 minutes. Perfect rice every time.

geez, I hate the move where Durant is on the fastbreak and tries to run into someone to get the foul call.
#52 #10 #25 #7
It’s just ugly.
Durant has gone to the foul line for touch fouls on the last four possessions.
#52 #10 #25 #7
It IS ugly
And lame if he’s playing your team.
And especially when ya think about how screwed Oden would be by the refs some nights.
#52
I am sorry, I can’t stand his game. Drawing fouls and midrange jumpers is not aesthetically pleasing to me.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I don't like Kevin Martin's game either
I like guys who can pass and not just score, and I swear I ain’t just saying that because of Oden/Durant.
#52
he is fluid, which is cool, but half of his offense is running into people and exaggerating contact.
#52 #10 #25 #7
Dirk is a mid-post player. Durant more gets the ball out top. I feel that’s a pretty huge difference in style. Also, Dirk generally tries to make a shot, but Durant often seeks out contact with no plan to make the shot.
#52 #10 #25 #7
He's about half a foot taller and his release point is way higher
So if he’s like Kevin Martin who is the only one to match some records by Jordan on FTAs and PTs, he should become a true superstar.
I’m not arguing he’s an effective scorer. I just don’t like the FT-dependent scorers as much.
Bayless gets fouls at the rim, which I’m fine with. I just hate getting fouls on midrange jumpers. So ugyl.
#52 #10 #25 #7

Mills: “I can make it from behind this other line, REALLY, I can.”
Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."
Atlanta just going through the motions. No one on their team showing any emotion or seeming to care.
#52 #10 #25 #7
they are a team that people take lightly. Do you seen ANY player on Atlanta that doesn’t look disinterested?
#52 #10 #25 #7
plus, the announcers make me hate OKC more. He actually said WOW when Durant just hit a normal 18 footer. Then he hit one the next time down and he started in his faux-shouting. UGH.
#52 #10 #25 #7
it was a third quarter, completely normal jumper by Durant and they said WOW! The Mikes say, “and a beautiful shot by Roy.” they don’t get hyper excited.
#52 #10 #25 #7
there’s a difference in that the faux-excited style drives me nuts. They raise their VOICE FOR EV-REE-THANG.
#52 #10 #25 #7

Free AK1984
no, that’s just Brian Davis’ style. He’s been doing it forever, and is a Seattle guy, not an OKC guy.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I am telling you, their success is based off of superior effort and focus, plus Durant getting ticky tack fouls. That doesn’t get it done.
#52 #10 #25 #7
91% of his shots are jumpers in the clutch, and he shoots 38%. He has a negative passer rating and his draw foul rate decreases from 16 to 12.
#52 #10 #25 #7
he has been visibly bad in crunch time. No one knew before this year becaues he wasn’t in any clutch situations, lol.
I find the fact that he actually draws fewer fouls interesting. Roy draws a few less in crunch time, Kobe has an enormous boost.
I wonder how a finesse guy like Durant will react to the calls stiffening in the playoffs. I imagine it will take him a year to adjust.
#52 #10 #25 #7
They have really taken a pretty big dive for some reason

If we give the Hawks LMA for Horford, and Rudy as a bonus so they can replace Joe Johnson who will bail, would they do it?
Is Johnson a sure bet to bail?
I still don’t think they would go for this, Horford and Crawford might be > Rudy and LMA, plus unless they are sure to lose Johnson, they don’t need a new 2
Free AK1984.
I would put it at > 90% that Johnson is gone. Dallas would take him, Chicago would take him, a number of other teams too.
Does ATL have the resources (and are in the position) to replace him?
I haven’t checked their financials.
They could bring him back. Reportedly the players are not too happy with the coach and the owners group is a mess though.
They made a killing with Joe Smith’s deal matching a weak offer from Memphis, allowing them flexibility. Bibby also signed a cheap deal. As for replacing Johnson, I don’t think Wade would go to ATL and there is not much else there in terms of guards unless you count guys like Gay or Felton.
Hmmm. ATL would be a different team without Joe Johnson.
The whole shakeout of this Summer’s free agent market will be crazy. I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad Portland won’t be in it.
We could be in a much worse situation at the end of it depending on where guys end up
That’s part of why I’m not happy about a wait and pray approach when we could still do something to get better or at least provide a backup plan if Oden is no cornerstone.
Yep, there's a strong chance that we're about to see a new set of power teams
Portland could be staring outside of the new generation Lakers-Celtics every year in the Finals. And so much of it depends on a certain big guy who’s had some troubles.
Agressive again by name is Jeff Green?

Durant is a budding superstar but quieting haters in the 4th isn’t his forte yet…
he is a great scorer. I will not argue that. He currently needs to work on shooting above 40% in the fourth, playing good defense, and actually passing.
#52 #10 #25 #7
let’s look at the components of his high PER. What stats does he possess that contribute to it being high?
-extreme usage
-high d-reeb rate
-efficiency
#52 #10 #25 #7
having one superskill doesn’t mean that you’re a complete player. Durant is one of the best young scorers of all time. He has some pretty important issues that need to be resolved, you agree?
I really dislike PER sometimes. I feel like I get lazy using it, instead of using the readily available TS%, TOV%, USG%, AST%, and then breaking those down. PER oversimplifies things.
#52 #10 #25 #7
it does but I don't see the problem with running up a high PER by being ridiculously good at a couple things rather than being "complete."
Free AK1984
who would you rather have, Lamar Odom or Corey Maggette?
PER overrates people that fall into its sweet spot. Durant is an incredible, incredible scorer. He’s not a complete offensive player yet. Complete players are superstars. LeBron, Wade, Paul…

they all are tremendous passers and willing defenders, to go along with their scoring.
Don’t get me wrong, Durant is a great scorer.
#52 #10 #25 #7
my question is if he’ll diversify his game to be more than a scorer moving forward.
His super skill of scoring is tremendous and polished. I dunno how much better of a scorer he’ll be.
#52 #10 #25 #7
He already added rebounding and improved his defense (+/- going up and other metrics)
He has the drive to get better. After every game, at least after every loss, he tweets about needing to get back in the gym and work on his game. He starts to love his teammates, which is a bad sign for every team that hoped they could just steal him away when his contract ends. If Petrie is allowed to add to this team and spend the money they have, I can see them challenge Portland and other teams in the West for years to come. And that is primarily a function of Durant becoming a star player.
they have one player who is arguably on Roy’s level. Then they have a bunch of meh, with Westbrook being a good defender. I don’t know how that matches up to Portland. There is an enormous, colossal talent gap.
#52 #10 #25 #7
even without Oden.
LMA >>>> Green
Bayless has played at a similar level to Westbrook
Batum >>>> Harden
Przybilla >>>> Krstic
Martell >>> Sefalosha
I don’t see how that isn’t a huge talent gap. I’m not even bringing in Rudy, Andre, and Travis.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I don't think Bayless is anywhere near the same level as Westbrook defensively
I also think Durant is already at or above Roy’s level and is 4 years younger.
Also, Thabo is a great defender.
Portland has more talent but I don’t think its huge without Oden.
Free AK1984
Bayless is beyond Westbrook offensively. Westbrook might be a little better, but it’s dang close.
Durant is a great scorer who is one of the worst passers in the league. I stillt ake Brandon. We can call it even?
Thabo’s defense is good, but he was also traded for practically nothing by Chicago. He’s a simply putrid offensive player. Martell’s defense and shooting are better than Thabo’s defense and eye-gouging offense.
We have a talent advantage at nearly every position. You are being anti-homer here.
#52 #10 #25 #7
Westbrook has played hundreds of minutes more than Jerryd in all kinds of game situations. He has also played about 100 games more already. I agree that Jerryd could be as good as Westbrook, but our coaching staff throttled that development for better (teaching him fundamentals) or worse (not developing him).
he’s at a much better offensive level than Westbrook and under worse circumstances, so doesn’t that speak to Jerryd’s talent?
#52 #10 #25 #7
It’s a bit like the Oden is a top 5 center argument. He is in limited minutes, he is not in terms of actually winning games.
if I’m correct, this argument was about pure talent. In that case, we can argue Jerryd and Westbrook and Oden being a top center.
the whole value added thing is bogus, I think. Look at what guys do per-minute, and it usually extrapolates to big minutes.
#52 #10 #25 #7
and his PER is still at Bayless’ level.
Westbrook is a great rebounder and defender, but a simply bad offensive player to this point.
Saying that either one is better than the other in terms of talent is impossible at this point.
#52 #10 #25 #7
I actually thought about talking about him earlier, just from my impressions in the last month.
His defense is very sound. The players rotate properly, and give up the long shot in order to protect the paint. Considering their lack of a shot blocker, they do very well. I don’t think their scheme will fare well against a post presence, though.
his offense is really ugly, with the spacing often looking unbalanced. Kinda like the inverse Nate.
#52 #10 #25 #7
i know. i’m just saying that scoring (not the, i’m lonely, wanna come over? scoring) is the most overrated skill in basketball.
"Your best?!?!! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and &^%@ the prom queen"
Super Rodgers Bros.
#52
look at what Durant’s done down the stretch against Cleveland, LA, etc… teams that know how to exploti his lack of playmaking do really well against him. To really succeed against all teams nad make his scoring more deadly, he needs to be a good playmaker.
It’s all about adjustments in the playoffs. Until he diversifies his game, it’s too easy to make him beat you all by himself.
#52 #10 #25 #7
Jake, just typing in ballhog names, I can’t find anyone withi the USG/AST stuff Durant has. Maggette, Ellis, Crawford…
#52 #10 #25 #7
what I’m saying is that, as good a scorer as he is, I am still trying to find a ballhandler that is as bad of a passer. Doesn’t it count for something that he could be the worst passer of all primary ballhandlers?
#52 #10 #25 #7
being a great scorer for yourself doesn’t excuse you for being one of the worst high volume passers in the league. I can’t think of a great player who didn’t pass.
#52 #10 #25 #7
does Gervin count?
"Your best?!?!! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and &^%@ the prom queen"
Super Rodgers Bros.
#52
you look at PER too much, I think. Gervin had some great TS% seasons, he just wasn’t the rebounder Durant is… and I find Durant’s rebounding sketchy at best, considering the team rates on/off.
Durant is a more efficient Gervin. He’s also one of the worst passers in the league, yet everyone ignores this.
#52 #10 #25 #7
if Durant ends up being Gervin, I think he’ll be viewed as a disappointment.
I don’t think it’s being a hater to say that Durant is one of the worst passers in the league and rarely generates good looks for his teammates. Sure, they lack offensive talent, but if he’s that good, there’s no way their offense should be that bad.
#52 #10 #25 #7
At the beginning of the season I was still saying it could go either way for Durant running the numbers. I now think he has taken a big step towards the star category.
There are plenty of great players with season where they scored 1500+ points at a high efficiency and with an assist rating below 15 percent. Just looking at forwards, e.g. Dirk, Barkley, Malone, Wilkins, Erving, Kiki, Duncan, Amare, Bosh, Marion, …
If we include TOV % it’s still 30 names, incl. Duncan, Barkley, Malone, Drew, Z-Bo, Gasol, Brand.
Durant is a perimeter player who has a >30 usage rate and doesn’t pass. Those guys are post players, so it’s apples to oragnes. If you want to compare Kiki, Erving, and Marion, then fine. They all still had better AST% to USG% numbers.
#52 #10 #25 #7
Last year he also didn’t defend and had about the worst +/- ever for a great scorer. As Henry Abbott did, you could even make the argument he was hurting his team. That has now pretty much flown out the window. I have little doubt that in time he will not only help his team win, but actually make those around him better.
The big question to me is really not “will Durant get better”, it’s rather “is OKC willing to spend the money to fill holes on the roster and retain their stars”. After this summer they could have added 2+ great picks and a major free agent. Or not, and instead just add scrubs and cheap players instead.
last year he didn’t care to defend. His +/- now indicates that he actually tries.
I struggle, throughout history, in finding players who improved who were Durant-esque in passing. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen, just shows me that it is harder to learn.
#52 #10 #25 #7
The list of comparable players is indeed small. And often as I saw in my previous analysis, you end up with big men as his comparison because he is so darn efficient in his scoring.
If you exclude scoring at all and just go by Usage, AST%, and TOV%, you can e.g. end up with just those names:
Patrick Ewing (not 1 season, but almost every one of his seasons)
John Drew
John Brisker
Kevin Durant
Glenn Robinson
But that doesn’t include Durant’s current season yet.
I can’t find many primary ballhandlers who improved much in AST%… anyone have ideas? English had marginal improvement, but was never Durant-bad.
Durant will be a really good player, I just think he’s got to improve his passing dramatically for their offense to be effective.
#52 #10 #25 #7
That is most definitely something that would help him since he can spot up just as well as create for himself.
Subjectively I would say he is worse at creating his shots than BRoy but better at catching and shooting. If OKC had drafted Tyreke to play SG that would be potentially even scarier to go alongside Westbrook and Durant, though Harden helps somewhat as well.
the espn community drools over 30 ppg guys, regardless of efficiency. kobe scoring 40 on 32 shots is better than roy scoring, say 25, on 10 shots

yep. what i’m saying is the general public is essentially ‘told’ who the superstars are, and i believe the talking heads promote points scored per game more than anything else. this explains why durant is getting so much pub already in his career. think of how much roy got at that point in his career…

Durant is a top 15 player
But when compared to Roy, the reason Roy is better is because he’s a playmaker whose scoring isn’t that far behind Durant.
And playmaking is not something you can see vastly improve, historically. It’s a safe bet that just as LMA won’t ever be a good rebounder, Durant won’t ever be a good playmaker— and that’s what makes Roy special. Decision making and passing, to go with scoring.
Durant is very, very good. His scoring simply doesn’t help as much as it looks because he’s the ballhandler, and the possessions end with him.
THAT COULD CHANGE, but historically it doesn’t. Roy is a better player, even though Durant is younger, because the big offensive hole in Durant’s game isn’t one you can reasonably expect will improve to a serviceable level.
#52
something interesting to consider about Durant’s rebounding numbers, considering that it can be argued they partially exist due to defensive rebounding and diminishing returns, etc. He actually hurts the Thunder in terms of rebounding percentage when on teh floor, a little for d-reebing and a lot for o-reebing. Just a thought.

Virgin unveiled the latest addition to Richard Branson’s luxury fleet on Friday: an underwater plane that will fly riders into the depths of the Caribbean Sea.
Guests on Necker Island, a retreat in the British Virgin Islands, will be able to dive underwater in a submarine dubbed the Necker Nymph for $25,000 a week. But that’s only after shelling out around $300,000 for a one-week stay on Necker, the private island owned by billionaire and Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson.
Portland's Jefferson High School will be on ESPN2 at 8pm
taking on Kentwood of Washington. Kentwood has a 6’9 beast of a center named Josh Smith who will be going to UCLA, while Jeff has Terrence Jones, a Lamar Odom like 6’9 forward who is considering a number of schools, including, UCLA, UW, Kentucky, and Oregon. If you’ve never seen Jones play, watch tonight, this guy has the talent to be a truly special ballplayer.

hey Timmay, I have a technical question. Recently I installed a firewire PCI card(not pci express) onto a fairly old motherboard
to act as an interface with one of these.mixer
Ever since then I run into what seems like a conflict with my lite-on dvd burner where it seems to skip whenever I try to play an audio cd. I’m running windows xp which I’m not sure allows irq reassignment, and it definitely seems like a conflict as it happens with all audio cd’s and happens on every song regardless of whether or not the disc is scratched. Do you have any idea what I could do to fix this? Because I have some really nice monitors hooked up to my mixer, but I can’t listen to any of my cd’s, or even import cd’s into wmp without hearing the constant skipping.

i have some bottles and cans and pennies over here if you want; if you came over to every portland junker’s house and got some deposits you could make some scrilla
back in my bachelor days I shared a house with like 3 of my buddies. I have always been notorious for having a bunch of change in my pockets
and when I’d go to bed I’d throw my pants on the floor and the change would go everywhere. Anyways I was a stoner, and never picked up the change. So when we were moving out, my buddy was like “hey, I’ll pick up all that change if you’ll let me keep it.” So I said yes. Long story short, he ended up picking up $80 off of my floor.

It really isn't bad
I’ve worked in a few restaurants and never seen anything truly gross. Don’t work fast food, and work in as nice of a restaurant as you can. And lie— say you’ve served before. No one will check, and if you have no experience they will make you be a busser or host, and that is lame.
I always made good money as a waiter, and it’s easy.

Yeah, he looks like Bryant McKinney
Seems like he has some soft hands, but with pure bruisers like that you have to wonder how they’ll do in a college pace/being covered by someone 6’11 rather than a 6’3-6’6 kid who will be playing IMs next year.
Jones is just plain smooth, I think he’s built for the modern game, in terms of frame and skillset.
