Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

If he agrees a buyout with Washington, should we try to get him to come to Portland?

He's probably only looking for the vet minimum.

they desperately need to change the trade/buyout/return in the next CBA

it’s turning into a joke the last few years, and just allowing the rich to get richer. every year a contender or two will trade a guy on an ending deal to some team trying to dump salary, get a good player in return for the stretch run, then sign the first guy back again 30 days later. Really lame.

they need to disallow the return for 1 year, or July 1, whichever comes first.

"I want to be traded to a contender" is almost always code-speak for "I'm a loser."

July 1 would always come first

Just saying.

Give Blake the MLE in 2010!

another possible target is Kurt Thomas, who is rumored to get bought out as well

I’d go after another big. Z, Thomas, someone else? why not?

Gooden as well

I would want a veteran point guard before a big. Bayless and Miller are the only players capable of actually playing point guard right now, and Rex is not at his best running a team. I guess Roy or Rudy could slide over in a pinch, assuming Roy is actually healthy. I dont really buy Mills as capable of playing any meaningful minutes right now. Every other position can be patched up in way or another should an injury happen…

RUDY > MJ
Thank you KP

agreed

I don’t have a name, but a veteran PG who can bring the ball up in a hostile environment and get everybody “back on the same page” after the opposing team has gone on a run would be invaluable

if KP brought in another big guy right now, it would just be tempting the basketball gods to strike down the overhead Cam. And we don’t want that to happen

When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

Gooden's staying with the Clips

according to Chris Mannix, he’s “ok with LA” after seeking a buyout from the Wizards

TMac?

Not sure what the Knicks will do, though. Had it been Sacramento, he would have been bought out.

"I think he’s been doing some good things. I think he’s been doing some good things. He’s had to play a lot of minutes lately with Blake being out. I think he’s been doing some good things." -Nate McMillan

Don’t need him. Why bring another slow big white guy to Portland?

by G0Den on Feb 18, 2010 12:09 AM PST reply actions

because he's a center, and he's still not bad. and we wouldnt lose anything/spend much to get him?

and what does his skin color have to do with it? if he were black you are suddenly for it?

Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".

...no seriously--stop.

Why not?

I’d bet money he’d want to go back to Cleveland, but if for whatever reason he doesn’t…we just traded two guys for one and have an open roster spot, and he plays the position we need the most help at, and he is by all accounts a good teammate…if KP wanted to pick him up for the rest of the season I’d be all for it.

He fits some of our most pressing needs

Size, very good offensive rebounder, does not need to clog the middle, won’t require a ton of minutes, good character guy, a good free throw shooter, and can even hit the three! What more could we ask for from a back up?

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
