I guess that explains why he was benched in the 4th quarter of tonight's game.
The NBA- so easy a Kaman can do it
you just beat me
deleted my entry.
obviously TMac is going in the deal. not sure what else. word is the knicks might still turn it into a 3-way. My guess is Morey got tired of the Knicks holding out on him on Hill/picks, so decided to increase his leverage by going to Sacto. Now Walsh is going to have to cave in if he wants to clear Jeffries off his books, which we know he does.

plus it seems like a better deal for houston
more players included

they'll try to send SERGIO & T-MAC to NEW YORK
if they can work out a 3 team trade

This deal actually could end up helping the Blazers
Kevin martin has been in a terrible slump as of late.
The NBA- so easy a Kaman can do it
I doubt it
The Rockets desperately needed a guy who can get 20+ pts a game and thats what they got.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
yep
much better than having ariza take 15 shots a game
they also gave up their best (only?) inside player
not sure I love this deal for them

losing Landry might be real bad for Rockets
but REAL GOOD for Blazers. who cares if KM gets 20 points a game on the Kings, that’s about 12 points on the Rockets

Martin & kenny thomas for mcgrady works straight up
but my guess is more would be involved.

I think its a wash for the rockets right now.

dont be so sure
i think the blazers have already made it clear how important getting to the playoffs is this season and the rockets are in 9th
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
the only thing the blazers need to do now is hope broy comes back healthy, they made their move.

I'm not saying we should force something
but if a team is looking to trade a player and we can get great value, i wouldnt be opposed.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
Or make a small trade or signing for an crafty vet point guard that can play 10mpg
RUDY > MJ
Thank you KP
isnt 10 mins all bayless played last game?
I dont think a crafty vet point guard playing 10 mins would get us over the top so if we do have any time left give it to mills or disperse between rudy and bayless.
by tevisthe4th on Feb 17, 2010 11:09 PM PST up reply actions
It would just be security for Broy injury
If Miller or Rex were to go down and Broy was still out, things would get ugly quick. Basically a no risk move is what I was thinking…
RUDY > MJ
Thank you KP
ahh I see, I figure if they go down playoffs are not in the cards
just play mills and see what we have there.
by tevisthe4th on Feb 17, 2010 11:33 PM PST up reply actions
Ya
That works for me too. I am really happy with our roster right now as long as Roy can get healthy. If I were KP, that would be the only change I onsider making unless some desperate team knocks your socks off with some wacky deadline deal…
RUDY > MJ
Thank you KP
it only takes 5 minutes of stagnation, per half
for a close game to turn into a loss
Bayless and Rudy haven’t run an offense against a playoff-caliber defense. Unless Roy or Miller is on the floor, the Blazer’s execution could break down resulting in turnovers and “flaming bag” passes
a veteran PG with playoff experience is even more of a necessity given the uncertainty of Roy’s status. It doesn’t have to be a great or young player, just a 30+ year old vet who has been to a few rodeos
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Sac is at least getting Landry back
Trace Machine (Hollinger) says this costs Houston 6 wins

I don't know
they could really contend with that roster, especially if McGrady makes any revival whatsoever and is interested in resigning. Lots of ifs, but I think the Kings are truly as set as anybody to make a blockbuster signing in the summer. It ain’t LA/NY/Chicago, but it is still California.

Who was the last big free agent they signed?
It’s just not a very attractive destination. But if Evans turns into a top 10 player, they’ll be good regardless
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
Oh he definitely won't
It’s 100% his monster expiring contract that makes him so attractive
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
That's what makes him the most interesting chip on the market right now.
His value is so down right now that he probably won’t sniff at a single digit salary next season. If that’s the case, you could get another max player with his salary and resign him to a MLE type deal, and if he came back to form next season he could be a good complementary guy. Sacto could be a major player in the offseason now…not the greatest market but a great fanbase, potential filled roster and prolly below the cap.

The Sacramento Kings have reached an agreement in principle with the Houston Rockets on a trade that will swap Kevin Martin(notes) for Tracy McGrady(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Along with Martin, the Kings will send Sergio Rodriguez, Hilton Armstrong(notes) and Kenny Thomas(notes) to the Rockets. Joey Dorsey(notes) and Carl Landry(notes) will go to the Kings.

ESPN is mainstream
and can’t break stuff before they happen…. Stop hating on ESPN just because.
Joel Freeland=Stud
love that the Knicks screwed themselves
they HAD it. they had Houston set to take on Jeffries contract, thereby giving them enough space to sign 2 max players this summer. but they just had to insist on putting lottery protection on their 2012 pick. Hello! if you get even 1 or your 2 targeted players, you aren’t going to be in the lottery.
I love it. I hope NY goes shopping this summer and comes home with Amare and not much else.

They will be lucky to get Bosh. LeBron or Wade? No chance.
Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!
Getting McGrady could have been a big boost for them,
as his value would be astronomically low in the offseason and could possibly squeezed in next two to other max contract type guys (think LeBron/Bosh/McGrady). THat is an insane lineup. Instead like u said, NY is stuck with garbage.

I think Sac is fine with the trade as it reportedly is,
maybe rockets want some picks if they are giving up that huge expiring contract AND Landry.

jeffries can actually play
the presumption is they would also get back some sort of draft picks from NY.

he wasn't really drafted by Phoenix
we bought that pick long before he was picked. It’s just the silly Stepien rule at work.
Just like we really drafted both Roy and Aldridge – not Minny and Chicago. Yes, officially, those teams drafted those guys and THEN we traded for them. In reality, those trades were made before the picks, and those teams picked based on who we told them to select. it’s common practice, and has turned the transaction wire on draft day into a joke.

actually, re-thinking this, i deem this trade fair
and not so bad for houston.
i keep thinking they have no inside players, and i constantly forget yao.
this is a sick roster for next season:
brooks
martin
ariza
scola
yao
with lowry, battier, hayes, budinger, and probably a lottery pick coming off the bench.
that team has EVERYTHING it needs to contend for a title if healthy.

Sergio & McGrady to NYK
My guess on the Kings roster:
PG: Tyreke Evans/ Udrih
SG: Francisco Garci/ Cassipi/ Hughes
SF: Nocioni/ Greene/ Jeffries/ Ime Udoka
PF: Landry/ Hill/ Dorsey
C: Thompson/ Hawes/ Brockman
One more and they would have to decide between cutting Udoka or Brockman (hmm… they might fit as the Blazers 15th?)
