you just beat me

deleted my entry.

obviously TMac is going in the deal. not sure what else. word is the knicks might still turn it into a 3-way. My guess is Morey got tired of the Knicks holding out on him on Hill/picks, so decided to increase his leverage by going to Sacto. Now Walsh is going to have to cave in if he wants to clear Jeffries off his books, which we know he does.

isnt 10 mins all bayless played last game?

I dont think a crafty vet point guard playing 10 mins would get us over the top so if we do have any time left give it to mills or disperse between rudy and bayless.

It would just be security for Broy injury

If Miller or Rex were to go down and Broy was still out, things would get ugly quick. Basically a no risk move is what I was thinking…

it only takes 5 minutes of stagnation, per half

for a close game to turn into a loss

Bayless and Rudy haven’t run an offense against a playoff-caliber defense. Unless Roy or Miller is on the floor, the Blazer’s execution could break down resulting in turnovers and “flaming bag” passes

a veteran PG with playoff experience is even more of a necessity given the uncertainty of Roy’s status. It doesn’t have to be a great or young player, just a 30+ year old vet who has been to a few rodeos

I don't know

they could really contend with that roster, especially if McGrady makes any revival whatsoever and is interested in resigning. Lots of ifs, but I think the Kings are truly as set as anybody to make a blockbuster signing in the summer. It ain’t LA/NY/Chicago, but it is still California.

That's what makes him the most interesting chip on the market right now.

His value is so down right now that he probably won’t sniff at a single digit salary next season. If that’s the case, you could get another max player with his salary and resign him to a MLE type deal, and if he came back to form next season he could be a good complementary guy. Sacto could be a major player in the offseason now…not the greatest market but a great fanbase, potential filled roster and prolly below the cap.

love that the Knicks screwed themselves

they HAD it. they had Houston set to take on Jeffries contract, thereby giving them enough space to sign 2 max players this summer. but they just had to insist on putting lottery protection on their 2012 pick. Hello! if you get even 1 or your 2 targeted players, you aren’t going to be in the lottery.

I love it. I hope NY goes shopping this summer and comes home with Amare and not much else.

Getting McGrady could have been a big boost for them,

as his value would be astronomically low in the offseason and could possibly squeezed in next two to other max contract type guys (think LeBron/Bosh/McGrady). THat is an insane lineup. Instead like u said, NY is stuck with garbage.

by BrewDude on Feb 17, 2010 11:48 PM PST up reply actions

he wasn't really drafted by Phoenix

we bought that pick long before he was picked. It’s just the silly Stepien rule at work.

Just like we really drafted both Roy and Aldridge – not Minny and Chicago. Yes, officially, those teams drafted those guys and THEN we traded for them. In reality, those trades were made before the picks, and those teams picked based on who we told them to select. it’s common practice, and has turned the transaction wire on draft day into a joke.

actually, re-thinking this, i deem this trade fair

and not so bad for houston.

i keep thinking they have no inside players, and i constantly forget yao.

this is a sick roster for next season:

brooks
martin
ariza
scola
yao

with lowry, battier, hayes, budinger, and probably a lottery pick coming off the bench.

that team has EVERYTHING it needs to contend for a title if healthy.

My guess on the 3 way trade:

My guess on the Kings roster:
PG: Tyreke Evans/ Udrih
SG: Francisco Garci/ Cassipi/ Hughes
SF: Nocioni/ Greene/ Jeffries/ Ime Udoka

One more and they would have to decide between cutting Udoka or Brockman (hmm… they might fit as the Blazers 15th?)
