this may draw a fair amount of negative reaction, but how does trading aldridge for boozer straight up sound? the only way that you do this is if you can get boozer to agree to an extension before hand.
why would the jazz do this? they are going to lose boozer no matter what. aldridge would most likely be a combo forward in jazz system, as kirelinko is very able to defend power players. millsap is just made for jerry sloan's system and would thrive in it. he can play the power forward or center against some teams. (aldridge salary going forward would be a real issue for the jazz)
how does it help portland? it gives them a very physical forward who can also play center. boozer is weak defensively, but has a very varied offensive game, with a decent midrange shot and all sorts of low post moves. he is a strong rebounder, and imposing presence inside. he will bump and grind with anyone. the reason the blazers might say no to this deal is that boozer has missed a lot of games with minor injuries last few seasons. that said, he brings a skillset that noone on blazers comes close to possessing.
have not worked out salaries to see if it really works straight up, but seems like it should. would be easy to make it work. of course, boozer has ties to florida and may not be amenable to extending with portland, making the trade moot.
