We really scored by picking up Juwan this summer. They might slap the player/coach label on him by next season. Seems like he has a couple of years left in him, if he’s only asked to play limited minutes.
the thing is, if Juwan was a coach that diatribe wouldn't have been as effective
I think Howard’s long-term goal is to be an NBA exec (instead of a coach) similar to Wayne Cooper
This kind of news is one of the reasons why I was suggesting deals for a veteran 4/5 with playoff experience last summer. There are intangibles that stats can’t measure, and Howard demonstrated that, following the OKC game

hopefuly not like Elgin Baylor
(22-fan will reply to this in 3…2…1…) Great player…not so great exec

I loved that
About time someone stepped up and read everyone the riot act. Good job, Gran’pa Juwan!

Rip-off! I tried Juwan's motivational technique in my office...
…and my Commodore mainframe has suffered because of it. (And who cleans up all the ice?)

Ooh...
…Dolph Lundgren has a good “”http://blogderudyfernandez.blogspot.com/2010/02/cunningly-delivering-ham.html" target="new">using ice as a motivational technique" also.
anyone else think we need to hire him as our big man coach if he ever stops playing
No one in the world can beat me at RBI baseball 3(nes).
Juwana "piece of me" Howard
Stepping up when it was obvious something needed to be said.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
Been waiting for this to happen for a while...
I guess the Miller/McMillan incident was sort of similar. Frustration simmers, then explodes, Blazers play well for a while….repeat (but with Howard)….I recommend at least a monthly tirade by someone on the team just to keep us on motivated…Blake, you are on deck!
I heard on the radio today that Rudy had a fit after the Phoenix game about playing time.
I think Quick was going to be covering this shortly, so I guess we’ll see what happened.
Personally, I think Rudy is proving himself to be more highly dispensible as the year progresses. All that we saw from him last year and he’s actually regressed in several facets of his game.
"Ain't nothin' in this world for free."
A fit?
I understand if he’s frustrated, especially with his play itself, rather than the amount of minutes. However, if it was on Portland radio and the word “fit” was used, it must be Quick or Canzano with a little all star break hyperbole.
Still on the Rex bandwagon.
Didn't sound like hype, but this story may grow legs
Quick confirmed earlier reports that Rudy had left the bench during the game and KP followed Rudy into the locker room.
Jason did not notice Rudy in the locker room after the game (Fernandez dressed quickly?)
Nate said after the game that the players should expect whoever is playing well on a given night will play more minutes, and the guys who aren’t playing as much that night should be more concerned about the “W” than their PT (“sacrifice” “buy in” “wait your turn”)
Quick is trying to contact KP for more info re: Rudy…but he emphasized that KP values Rudy more highly than Blake, Travis or Webster because of his star potential and Jason doesn’t expect #5 to be traded next week
Quick said that during the summer the Blazers will have to “weed out” 1 or 2 of their guards, and that the staff realized earlier in the season that having “too much talent” can be detrimental
