Normally I am reticent to criticize a media source that's critical of the Blazers, since I'm not a complete homer and most of the time the criticism is deserved...

but these guys clearly have zero idea what they're talking about.

meh

personally I think most teams have terrible logos. the blazers logo is easily recognizable, which is what counts. i do think they need to do away with the all caps italicized font and go back to the lower case rounded font.

I love this line:

“It could be argued there’s nothing trailblazing about this logo.”

Oh, zing! (It could also be argued that that Askmen writer has turkey gravy in his cranium.)

I disagree with the #1 choice as well

personally, my least favorite logos are big clunky eyesores….. Toronto.

I'm gonna be the only A-hole that owns a Nic Batum jersey that doesn't live in France. Awesome.

I agree with the Toronto logo.

It’d be a great logo for an elementary school baskeball team though. That would surely put fear into a couple 1st graders. Maybe.

These seem to pop up every few months.

This has got to be the laziest, least-researched idea for a column out there.

Man, I couldn't disagree more

I think the blazers have about the best logo and color scheme in the NBA—full disclosure, I live in Portland and I’m a total homer now, but I also used to think this when I grew up on the east coast. The pinwheel is the only real icon symbol in the league—almost every other team uses their name (lakers), or letter (houston’s H on fire thing) or a complicated image (mavs) as a logo.

I do dislike the ‘pinwheel inside the rhombus’ that this post links to, but the pinwheel itself is awesome. I do also prefer the older straight up and down pinwheel to the current slanted ‘modern’ one. My two cents.

Lame article. Obviously.

I live in North Carolina and often wear my hat that is black, and has nothing but the Blazers logo on it. I regularly receive comments from people about what a cool logo the Blazers have. It’s obviously way more unique and interesting than all the lame logos of say the bears, hornets, wolves, hawks, or ___________ (insert lame and non-unique team name here)

I think it’s appropriately vague, simple, and pleasant, and I honestly think it’s probably one of the best sports logos out there.

like the logo

It’s more like a company logo. I think that’s positive, conveys an image of professionalism.

Could you imagine IBM with a logo like the one the Toronto Raptors have?

Ooh, the bottom half of league sales?

Fans aren’t impressed either, and perhaps that’s why Blazers merchandise is in the bottom half of league sales.

That couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Portland is in the bottom half of market sizes, could it?

We should bring in more scrub big men; they make good curse fodder.

Thought the same thing

by BassBall on Dec 20, 2010 5:06 PM PST up reply actions

Ive thought alot about our logo- the pin wheel

First of all I love it. No doubt about it. Its cool, its original and it stands out from the pack because of its originality.

Now, does a pinwheel have anything possibly even remotely to do with being a “TrailBlazer”? My answer is No! Absoluely not. I think of Lewis and Clark when I think of quote “TrailBlazers”. I think Glickman or his cousin were to, but how do you make a cool bball logo of Lewis and Clark worthy? You dont because it aint gonna happen.

Last, what I think is that we should come up with some cool new logo that represents what it means to be a Trailblazer. Dont throw the old logo away but come up with some new flavor to add to the mix as well. Someone should be able to come up with something cool. Something that we all like.

Agree? Disagree?

I disagree with #2 and #1

Mostly because those are my two favorite professional teams.

Maybe they meant to say mascot.

Then again, we’d be #1 in that category hands down.

I love the pinwheel. No logo better conveys the decade the team was founded in. It makes me think of Jack Ramsay rocking the plaid pants.

Weird that they used the rhombus version of the Trail Blazers logo considering it hasn’t been used in years. It’s only been made for the simple fact that the NBA requires one logo to be used with the teams full name in it.

if they were indicating the one with the parallelogram, then the logo isn't all that great.

but for the pinwheel itself, i think it’s a great logo.
