I think Phoenix probably wouldn't do it.
If they’re trading Nash, then they’re fully rebuilding, and would want young players and draft picks.
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
Agreed...
I assumed we have to throw in a 1st round pick but you can’t show that on the trade machine.
this would get it done, but I don't know if I'd do it.

They would indeed be going younger if they traded Nash. I can’t imagine Bobby O saying “we need to keep it in the halfcourt” with Nash on the team.
the thing about Nash is
the Suns do most of their scoring in the half court via PnRs. They don’t run on made baskets now nearly as much as when they were coached by D’Antoni
the main problem I see with Nash as Portland’s PG is the Blazers don’t have the same quality of 3 point shooters that Phoenix does. Gentry not only encourages his players to shoot when open, Frye said he got yelled at whenever he used to pass up that shot. Once the Sun’s players realize that they aren’t going to be removed from the game for missing a trey, they step into the shot with more confidence and start knocking them down with more regularity
Nate =/= Alvin, in this regard (or as a baiter of referees, I might add…)
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
From what I've noticed Nash looks to run as first priority and Pick and Rolls when there aren't fastbreaks availabe.
I totally agree about needing a better cast of shooters to utilize his skills with, however. I don’t see Nash as a great option for Portland with the way it’s constructed, either. He’s my favorite “star” in the NBA because he facilitates and isn’t a volume shooter (and he’s just plain fun to watch.)
He’d also be a quick plane-hop to BC to see his kids :)
I’m thinking that NAte wouldn’t be the right coach…
We can always (And should) fire Nate...
Nicolas Batum is the future of the Blazers
I'm surprised...
I get that our 3 point shooting has been off this season but we’ve got a pretty amazing cast of 3 point shooters if you consider Roy/Matthews/Batum and possibly Rudy if he were still here. I really think it’d work.
sure, if Cho replaced Nate with a coach like Gentry
it could work, for as long as Nash was healthy and in a Blazer uniform. Take Steve out of the valley of the sun and up into wet/rainy Portland and I suspect his back would be barking in no time

I agree ...
I think you’d see our 3pt shooting improve with Nash on the roster. Nash’s presence on the floor would create some wide open 3’s.
I agree it would take Batum ....
to probably get Nash.
How about Aaron Brooks??
Maybe for Miller + Pryzbilla/filler? He can shoot, can take over games if he needs to, and can defend reasonably well. Houston says they don’t want to trade him, but with his recent ankle injury and his backup Kyle Lowry playing pretty well I’m sure they would part for the right price… I think Andre Miller could help Houston right now and he would work well with Scola. I’m sure they would want Pryzzy too so I don’t know if it would be worth it though…..
Gave this one a shot too to get Nelson...

-Orlando needs a backup Big so we send them Przybilla and get Mozgov from NY (7’1" rookie with potential, decent back-up with cheap 3 years left on his contract). They also only have one SF with Hedo so we send them Nic to share minutes.
-Orlando currently has 4 PGs on the roster (Arenas, Nelson, Duhon and Williams) so we go after Nelson to replace Miller and get younger. (I’d say they’re fairly equal with Nelson having some potential left and the ability to shoot a 3 but Miller being clearly more “wiley”.)
-NY wants Melo. With this trade, they become a very good team right now as opposed to developing all of their young talent. They get Melo and Miller in exchange for their 2 great young forwards (Galinari and Chandler) plus a 1st round pick to Denver and Curry’s expiring contract.
-We get younger with Galinari, Mozgov and Nelson and hopefully retain our 1st pick. It’s an option anyway.
