Give up on Dampier
The Miami HEAT and the Houston Rockets both passed up on him even though both could really use his services, Miami with Joel Anthony as their starting C and Yao playing only 24 mpg for the Rockets. I’m fairly certain there’s a reason as to why Dampier isn’t getting a contract.
Blazers basketball? Just basketball you say? More like a way of life
weird.
A better than serviceable big man that no one wants? This is a story I’d like to better understand.
He probably had no interest in signing for the minimum
And surely wouldn’t have signed a non guaranteed deal like Marks. Plus the prospect of playing behind Joel & Greg a month from now isn’t to appealing to a guy who thinks he’s an nba starter. Perhaps he can go play with AI in Turkey
Dampier is a weak option..
I’d rather have Oden and/or joel for 40 games than a healthy Dampier for 82 games..
I'd rather have Chris Paul than Patty Mills
Can I play too?
Fabricio Oberto and Ryan Gomes: Blazer Legends
Dampier or Marks..
Doesn’t matter. Neither will make an impact. We’re talking about the 15th man.
Signing Dampier wouldn't make much sense from a financial perspective now that Joel's about to come back,

depends if ED had any trade value in February re: the contract that you sign him to
Portland could use another mid-level salary to include in a trade, and big men in general are usually fungible…but if ED is having so much trouble getting resigned it’s a good time to stay away from him. Either he’s asking for too much (or 2 years guaranteed) or the rest of the league thinks his skills aren’t worth acquiring anymore
his agent is probably waiting for a contending team to suffer an injury to their center, then his salary demands will be met by a desperate GM
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Looks like the free spending days are gone
There was a time when Paul Allen would pay the money necessary to ensure that the Blazers would have a starting caliber guy in the 3rd string, but I think those days are gone. Or at least, they are on hold.
the luxury tax threshold does seem to be a hard ceiling for Paul and the Vulcans
at least until the team advances in the playoffs and earns additional post season revenue
I hope that Cho isn’t given an ultimatum to dump Joel’s salary to get under the LTT. But much depends on how the team does in the next few months and how healthy Greg and Marcus are

Why wouldnt we pick up Dwayne Jones over Sean Marks

Sean Marks is baller
he is a Kiwi and rocks low tops… what more could you ask fro in your 4th center?
In 2003–04, while with the Spurs, he did not play a single second due to patella tendinitis.
On April 16, 2008, during a win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the Phoenix Suns last regular season game, Marks scored a “double-double”, with 16 points, 13 rebounds, along with 1 steal and 1 block.
Some interesting stuff from his Wikipedia page. Wonder if he can give any advice to Oden on dealing with the tendinitis?
