So we all know the outcome of last night. We also know this isn't the first time the Blazers have fallen apart like this down the stretch when leading the game.
So I finally put together a jump shot vs drive/paint shot video analysis thingy. The game last night reminded me of the Grizzlies game (also at the Rose Garden) when the Blazers started to resort to jump shots. It makes me mad and decided to just make a video showing why the constant jump shots when having the lead is a horrible thing (and allows the opponent right back in the game when they do it).
This game was pretty bad though, the video starts with 6 minutes left in the 4th and goes through every Blazer possession and their shot choices including attempts/made/free throws and total points.
Armon's shot does not count because he is Armon (the total points Armon has at the end is pretty funny compared to the total jump shot points).
Hope you enjoy it and I'll make some more of these, I might even make one from the Bucks game last night just to show the difference.
Also I uploaded another Blazer Phantom video which is #2. It's not as obvious but it was the block Marcus Camby made which was clean but called a foul. In HD you can see it was clearly all ball. All in fun, it will be interesting to see the collection I get from now to the end of the season.

Again sorry about the poor quality, I'm working my way to getting my tuner upgraded to record everything in HD (like my previous videos from the last 2 years) and slowly gathering the funds to do so. Once I get it then everything will be crystal clear. This method works for now.
More to come!

Thanks for taking the time to put that together
The Blazers have got to stop slowing down so much when they get a lead. I don’t understand the thinking there. It’s aggravating to see your team shrink back to what they used to be: an isolation, jump-shooting team. Especially when they are going against the one of the best isolation, jump shooting scorers in KD.

UNder pressure some people resort to what they know best.
Which in this situation was Roy ISO or others not playing team offense. This was our reall first pressure situation in a while, hope they really take it to Toronto and LA this weekend.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
For a moment I was hoping there was time left on the clock after Armon's 3.
But alas there was not…

I wish my television had those exact stats on it at all times!
we can still win........
11 points in 11 minutes - Yuck
I hate the video replay (gross) but the content is great. Nice breakdown. Well put together, hats off, rec’d, etc.

How about the no call on Durant near the end where he clearly pushes Batum and no call
could add that to the end of year montage

So we were still at 1.0 pts per possession on attempts in the paint?
Couple less jumps hots and a couple more shots in the paint and we might have closed the game out.
...
Pretty much when the Blazers blow a lead it’s because they just start taking bad jump shots. They keep doing it over and over putting the game at risk.
I’m doing one of these for the game tonight when the Blazers almost blew the game. I’ll have jump shots during the Raptors come back then another section after the Blazers regain the lead.

I think we are learning. Our offense is noticeable more creative this season, but we seem to fall back on old habits when the going gets tough. This game is a good example of exactly how to lose a game at home when you have the lead.
I hope the more our guys get used to cutting and moving without the ball and seeing Nic be a larger part of the offense the more likely they are to use those tools when the pressure gets ratcheted up. There were also a couple of big no-calls on the Sonics that helped their run immensely. Either Westbrook or Maynor made a lay-up and 1 where he took 3-4 steps, and that push-off KD had against Batum was pretty bad. Still, we lost this game, not the refs.

Way to harsh on Kevin Harlan
but he deserved it. Nice job!

First in the NBA. At least alphabetically
That was hard to watch again
Great compilation. Thank you for showing what many of us our feeling. I too, wish I had those stats on my TV all the time.
