I understand that in terms of depth, Rudy is a notch up on the totem pole than say, E. Williams, but why not give his minutes to players that will be part of our future?
More specifically I think we should be giving his minutes to Matthews and Batum to help develop some chemistry and refine skills in a potential squad that can make a run at the title. I feel like Rudy's minutes are being wasted since he doesn't want to be in the NBA (we know the whole story etc).
This isn't a Rudy bash, but it just seems illogical to me to burn minutes on a guy who's ceiling IS basically Wes Matthews and no where near Batum's, and who also happens to want OUT of the NBA. I do appreciate his vision, creativity, and quick 3pt shot (2-12 over the last 3 games, mind you) but over the long run, not giving Batum/Matthews more minutes right now will hurt us later. This can also provide some more rotation stability and/or let the other rooks get a whiff of PT.
Maybe it's to increase his trade value (which doesn't make much sense to me because he will be going back to Europe, so it can't be terribly high), or maybe it's because Nate feels sorry for him, I'm just not sure. I need some insight here!
