I was thinking about the NHL lockout and lost season in 2004-2005 and wondered if some similarities might come from this coming year's NBA negotiations. The specific issue I would like to see is the one-time buyout of a player's contract (in the NHL teams were allowed to buyout a player at 2/3 of their remaining contract and the contract would not count against the teams salary cap and the player could not resign with the same team).
If this were to happen, and know what we currently know about Brandon's knees, would you advocate cutting our losses and moving forward? If we don't see any improvement from Brandon throughout this coming season I would say the Blazers should buy him out and move forward with Wesley and whoever else we can get through the draft or trades.
