Preface: I love Brandon Roy. Loved the blazers without him, became obsessed after the draft of LA (remember he was #2 overall) and watching Roy's fearlessness and crunch time abilities. I didn't perceive Roy as an all-star caliber player at first, but his incredible work ethic and deceptive cerebral game took him to the next level.
Let him rest, get his mind and body right. Our core of LA, Batum, and Miller with a great supporting cast will keep us is good playoff position and possibly a more healthy and motivated Roy could return for the playoff push.
The alternative is to morph him slowly into tracy mcgrady and probably trade him to the t-wolves for a second round pick (ok... a little hyperbole goes a long way).
Brandon Roy as a clutch player down the stretch seems only attainable by giving him time to rest now. He is no longer dwade west but could be our paul pierce.
Please comment on if you think the Blazers should rest Roy with a mid jan. expected return or juggle him in and out of the line up going forward?
