I'm not sure its time to freak out yet

Yes, the season has started out a lot worse than most expected and the injury to Roy along with the re-injury of Oden have come as a bombshell.  However, I'm way too much of a blind optimist to throw in the towel after less than a month of regular season play, so here are a few things to think about before turning in your season tickets and throwing out your jerseys.

We have played 13 games so far.  Only two other teams have played 13 games, the wolves and the clippers, and they are doing a lot worse than us (which should be expected no matter how many games they have played but still).  8 of those 13 games have been on the road and we have a solid 4-4 road record to date.  Our only loss at home was an overtime loss to the Thunder.  Hopefully the fourth quarter collapse will not become our plan B move now that plan A isolate Roy at the top of the 3 point arch is no longer an option, but the way Miller seems to be stepping up in crunch time, I have faith we wont have repeats of the OKC games every time we play a good team.  This leaves us with a decent 8-5 record after 13 games, good for 8th in the West not to mention a positive point differential.

One more thing to think about.  Especially since the acquisition of Miller, people have been saying the only reason why we aren't running the ball more is because Roy is a half court player and needs the ball in his hands.  With him out/playing a smaller role, we can finally see if this is true.  LA, Rudy, Miller all excel in the open court with Mathews, Batum and everyone else holding their own on the break also.  Maybe this is a time to redefine our team as opposed to mope at the loss of players.  I will not push under the rung what Roy has meant to this team, and being without our go-to guy and our closer will be hard, but we are not lost without him.  Who else loved Mellow fouling out in the 4th because he had to chase Batum all over the court the whole game?  And when he got burnt hard for that nice ally-oop from Miller?

Now, I'm not saying we are still going to be in the final, and I think I might have written this fanpost mostly to convince myself, but fear not blazer fans, this season is not over yet.
