Time to Move on

Greg Oden. After three years of high hopes, waiting, and most importantly defending him its time to move on. For the last three years this team has been banking on an “ace in the hole” and we the fans, the players, and the management have used the lack of our “ace in the hole” as an excuse for not meeting expectations. I have seen it on this website, I have heard it from Mike and Mike, Wheels, and just about everyone within the Blazers organization “Well thats what Greg will do when he gets back”, “Greg will fill that roll”. Its time to stop waiting. The team can’t keep thinking that things will be better when Greg gets here. Its crippling the team.
When we drafted Greg I was a huge supporter. When he first got injured I was still 100% behind him. Through all the minor injuries in the following year I was behind him. I backed him when he broke his patella. Over those 3 injury riddled years I defended Greg when it came to issues of his character, skill, and most importantly his inability to stay on the court. I stuck by Greg, but there is no reason to do this anymore. I have lost faith. I do not mean to say that I doubt Greg’s character or skill, only his ability to stay healthy. I do not feel that Greg will ever be worth the money we would have to pay just to take another chance on him.
We need to support Greg through his rehab, and always welcome him in Portland, but its time to move on. Greg is not the answer.
