VERY early candidate for best trade of the off season has to be...
Barbosa for Hedo and that ugly contract. Let's just say that so far Toronto is winning big.
To be fair to Phoenix, this was on a "neutral" court. That ought to be worth a few points. Vancouver is a beautiful city. Perhaps they were distracted.

That wasn't a trade
but right now is looking like one of the more underrated FA signings.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
Indeed, Matthews was acquired as a restricted free agent,
not via trade. However, the Martell Webster deal cleared some cap room for the Matthews signing, and Matthews figures to account for most of the minutes Webster played last season. In that sense, you can consider Matthews to have been indirectly acquired by trade.
Surprising!!
Most people will read my posts before being disappointed with them.
Maybe I should have done an “OT:” in the title, but Hedo was so close to being a Blazer, it doesn’t seem too far off topic.
I agree, this was a good trade.
One preseason blowout doesn’t mean that much, but any trade that gets Turkoglu and his baggage off one’s hands is going to be a win for the team. That guy is expensive and nowhere near the player he was 2 years ago… Certainly nothing close to what we thought we would have had if we’d signed him last summer. It’s good that he’s in the Western Conference now too, from the Blazers standpoint. It will greatly diminish the Suns relevance in the playoff hunt and make them easier to beat.
so now hedo is getting boo'd by two fan bases
Michael Jordan is the Nicolas Batum of America
"I was like, 'Wow, we get a run.'-Felix Hernandez
Artis Gilmore for Hall of Fame
due to his low support around Bedge, Rudy Fernandez is temporarily my new favorite player
Not sure about that one. I'm happy Hedo is not in Portland, but he could very well have a bounce back season in Phoenix.

I doubt it
He’s naturally a SF and has some good handles, but now he’s playing PF and can’t really utilize his handles as much. Basically, him playing out of position will make him even more ineffective.
In most offenses, that may be true
But Channing had a career year playing C in PHO. And we all know he’s an oversized 2 or 3.
I can see Hedo as either a 3 or 4 playing some high post and at times initiating the offense while Nash runs off screens.
He’ll hit some clutch outside shots, and make some fancy passes at just the right times.
The PHO version of Hedo may never be the Hedo of ORL, but I suspect he’ll be much more than the Hedo of TOR.
