For Greg and Blake

Hey just finished watching Game 2 of the 2010 season for the Blazers, and while excited for the Blazer win as I should be I want to make a few points about the game that I want to recognize. I am a huge homer for the Blazers but I have to give props to Blake Griffen. The kid came out and played hid butt off! I am so happy for him, beyond explanation. I think we as Blazer fans can understand more than most why this is so exciting for the long suffering Clippers fans. Like with us and Oden those guys have a game changer, a guy who makes the opponent change their whole game, but he suffered an injury that stole his first season away from him. He came back tonight and showed everyone why he was the number one pick. I was amazed and so happy for him and as a NBA fan, excited for the many more years watching him playing.

To the Clippers fans I hope Griffen offers you guys many healthy season where he gives you guys a chance every night like he did for you tonight. He is an amazing player, be happy you have him, many teams would give their left hand to have him. I just hope that Blazer fans hope for him like they do for Oden. We all wish for both of these great athletes and young men have magnificent careers, Most of all, heres to Western Conference Finals with Portland V. LA in the Western Conference Finals a few years from now, only not the Lakers, but the Clippers. I would be proud of both teams.

Here is to the health of both men, I hope for Blake's health as I hope Clippers Fans hope for Greg's, both teams could be amazing, I hope they are...but I hope the Blazers are a bit more amazing...cheers Clippers fans to the future!

classy

too bad though, I’ve never seen a Clipper fan on this blog before, and they may never see this. tis the thought that counts! and I’ve been bashed before, blogging with rivals after we’ve beaten them

There are many of us

I truly admire the Blazers, even with injuries you can’t keep them down. Also pretty much all of the Blazer fans I have meant have been classy and knowledgeable. Can ’t say that for about 95% of the Laker fans I see every day in LA.

I had similar thoughts

Though, admittedly, I had less of a “Good for Blake!” mentality, and more of a “There’s still hope for Greg” train of thought.

Still, Griffin looked impressive and entertaining.

Go Blazers!

I was thinking

man I would love to see Greg and Joel in there against Blake and the clippers. A game like last nights makes me understand just how much different Greg and joel make it when they are in. The middle was wide open for the clippers, especially early on, with Greg and Joel that just doesn’t happen as much. And I can only dream of Greg or Joel meeting Blake at the rim on at least one of those dunks. I love Camby, and what he brings to the Blazers, but even he can’t do what Greg and Joel do on the defensive end. Hopefully they are back soon.

Portland couldn't match up with Blake G because

they were trying to out-athlete him. There are few players in the NBA who can out-athlete Blake Griffin. What GO and Przy would have done is put a big body on him that he couldn’t get around. That’s not athleticism, that’s tectonic warfare.

I'm not a big GO fan

but I think he’s a pretty good athlete.

Blake's above the rim rebounds

were quite impressive to behold and had me texting, “Griffin already looking like the Oden I wish we had.”

Good post. I too am pretty excited for the Clippers, as Blake Griffin looks like the real deal. A possible superstar.

In his first NBA game he absolutely dominated us for stretches. That is quite impressive. I just hope his reckless style of play lets him have a long career.

I think Portland is not used to

someone that athletic and strong throwing his body around the key for rebounds. I loved his intensity when the shots went up- he was crashing the boards hard.

I noticed that when he got the ball in the low post, though, he didn’t seem to know what he wanted to do. He certainly knows how to grab rebounds and get out on the break. But he’ll be more dangerous once he gets the feel for the half-court game as well. Last night he looked a little bewildered when he got the ball in a half court set.

Clippers fan here - very classy post indeed.

Will fanshot it up over at ClipsNation – I’ve been feeling the same way for Oden well before I even knew Blake Griffin was going to be a Clipper btw.

Anyways, good game last night (I was there). Was hoping our new asst coach would’ve given us more insider info on how to beat you guys though! I was very disappointed that the Clips got shut down on the zone up. I knew Nate would turn that on at some point.

Classy post indeed

I love drafting Blake and Oden in NBA 2k11 as teammates.

I wish Oden well. I’m not one of those people that thinks he’s a bust. He just needs to get healthy.

Also a Clipper fan

I agree with cliptakular that Oden’s anything but a bust. In his limited time on the court, he’s shown a lot of improvement from day 1. Every time he’s healthy, he’s shown really great potential, and he’s got some great per-36-minute stats (17ppg, 13rpg, 60FG%, 3.5bpg). I can’t wait to get a full season of Oden. You guys have a great future ahead of you, and very soon I think the Blazers and Thunder will be the top dogs in the west. Hopefully the Clips can make some noise too.

Also, as a Clipper fan, I’ve always noticed that the Blazers fans are always some of the most polite bloggers that venture on our side of the tracks. When Blake was declared out for the season, we got a lot of kind words from you guys, since you knew how it felt. Then after last night’s game, there were a number of bloggers that came to say how much they admired Griffin. We truly appreciate the sportsmanship—-we rarely get it from the other LA team. Good luck this year, and stay healthy!

All the Clipper fans coming out of the woodwork on this post

You guys should comment over here more often. We don’t bite, really.

I enjoyed watching Blake play last night as well. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if you guys had won… But anyway, good luck this season. Should be a fun ride.

When the world knows Nico Batum as "The Inevitable", I'll be very happy with where he is as a player.

Griffin is seriously scary.

Just going on pure athleticism and he’s danged good – if he gets some post moves and more technique…daaaaaang.

Good to see all the Clips fans!

Blazer fans rock!

I check in here from time-to-time, to see if there’s any Camby chatter. We truly miss him, and wish we had him on our bench this season (especially after seeing what Camby did to Kaman on Wednesday).

You guys are great fans, and I hope that Oden gets healthy soon, and stays that way!

Cheers to Greg and Blake!

P.S. – BEAT THE FAKERS!

Clipper fan and just read this.

Trailblazer fans are some of the classiest in the league i was in a suite in staples and
we had a couple of guys from Portland they also was praising Blake so i bought them
a couple of beers and we cheered that Blazers and Clippers hopefully make the playoffs.
The main thing is beat the crap out of the Lakers and Heat. I will be cheering for you
guys when you go up against these two teams.
