With the talk of contraction
only a potentiality at this point, I'm interested in discussing how its actualization would look. Which cities are on the cutting list? Obviously the smaller markets, but historically vibrant fan bases (Portland, Detroit, San Antonio) take care of that to a certain extent.
On the flip side, one would have thought that a big city like Seattle would therefore be immune to the atrocity of (what is it now?) 2 years ago. Also, 'contraction' is not a friendly term for a city (seattle) eager for re-expansion.
With this in mind, I'm thinking that any contraction will include at least one relocation from a small market to a bigger one without a team. Isolating the NBA to big markets (for the most part) is what Stern has in mind when speaking of contraction.
So who's it gonna be?
My list for relocation/contraction:
4) New Orleans
Who goes to Seattle? Who goes to Las Vegas?
