Adam Morrison out of the NBA
Just like many of us said he would be by this time.
Actually, I didn't think he'd make it this long and said so back in 2006. So let's raise a glass to the dearly departed Kevin Pritchard, who ignored the "Draft the 'Stache" fanboys and got us both Aldridge and three-time All-Star Brandon Roy instead,

Dude's got 2 rings
I could see him playing as a 3 point specialist for a crappy team. Look how many chances Miles got.
I used to go by tominhawaii. My real name is still Tom.

He's not really a "specialist"
He’s actually a well-rounded scorer… with the body of an old man. While I imagine he’ll bounce around the NBA for a bit longer, he really should go to Europe. I think he could be a success for a coach prepared to design a team specifically to cover his defensive inabilities.
(Who deserves their rings more: Morrison or DJ Mbenga?)
Mbenga
at least he contributed something sometimes

If you believe Steve Patterson, KP wanted to draft "the stache".
It was reported by multiple people that Roy always held that against KP. I’m not saying it’s true, but it had been reported by a few people including Sports business radio’s Brian Berger, that Steve Patterson was the person who engineered the draft day deals that landed Roy and Aldridge. Regardless, the stache hasn’t panned out and I’m sure glad we have Roy instead.
no one is going to buy this story, don't you know that KP is the man who single-handidly turned this franchise around
and he always a sunny disposition had a kind word for everyone
PatterNash was all that was wrong with the Blazers; they couldn’t find their way out of a wet paper bag on draft day
It’s too bad KP didin’t listen to the DeJuan Blair fanboys in June 2009. (Or perhaps he should have consulted with Steve instead of Tom Penn?)

Would you rather have:
CP3 and Morrison
or
Roy and Webster?
You only get to choose one option. Go!

can I trade LMA for Roy?

Yes.
LMA and Webster can be your option, but only because you’re special.

then I'll take CP3 and the 'stache
of course if this had happened, the 2006-2007 lottery would have turned out differently

Unfortunately, not necessarily for the worse.
There’s definitely some name there that I would take over last 3 years of Greg. Horford and Noah, for one, as well as you know who.
I will run naked through the streets if Oden wins the MVP this season...happily.
with CP3 Portland would have won a lot more games
and who knows how the ping pong balls would have fallen?
This reminds me of what Harry Glickman said about LaRue Martin. Portland was prepared to draft McAdoo but Bob’s agents reneged on a deal and Harry told Stu to come up with a different choice. Martin (see my avatar photo) played well in a post season tournament and became the most-notorious 1st pick in NBA history. The team won 21 games but that put them into position to draft Walton. So without LaRue and the sucktitude that was the ’72-23 season, there would have been no Blazermania in 1977.
Maybe we’ll say the same thing about the ’07 draft in a few years? The parallels between Greg and Bill are even stronger than re: Oden-Bowie.

You got to be kidding - Brian Berger makes Canzano appear credible.

Dude
I’m not raising my glass because a once great player got waived. Even if you say you didn’t like Morrison for whatever reason, there was absolutely no reason to think he wouldn’t be a star in the nba. Basketball prodigy, unstoppable scorer, emotional leader, co-college player of the year. I don’t remember all of these people saying they wouldn’t take Morrison back in 06.

Although I was a Sonics fan back in '06, here's a comment of mine about Adam Morrison -- as well as ...
J.J. Redick — from March of that year.
“[…] neither Adam Morrison nor J.J. Redick — who, no matter how poorly he played against LSU last night, deserves to at least have his surname spelled correctly by you guys — will likely be productive in the NBA.”

The above quoted comment of mine is about midway down through that linked thread.
Well, all things considered, it was excruciatingly clear from the get-go that Morrison was severely lacking in athleticism, which ended up being his downfall.

Awwwwwww, how adorable!
Did someone go to Gonzaga and host cry parties for Adam back in the day?

Nice!
I’ll ten million over 5 years to then slip quietly into obscurity too. Where do I sign up for THAT?

This is a great opportunity for the Blazers - BUY LOW
Maybe KP’s true genius was not to be realized until many years after the draft, for he knew Morrison would be a cataclysmic bust and available as a free agent. Now we can have LMA, Roy AND Morrison – we don’t have to choose!
Throw this guy in a Blazer uniform and he and Oden would be an unstoppable tandem…. as in, nobody would ever stop making fun of them.
Holding out for Hedo
Glad I'm not the GM.
I admit I was caught up in the Telfair hype, Stache hype, and Greg Oden hype. These three guys are the reason I don’t buy into hype anymore (although I still have a glimmer of hope for GO).
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
No doubt!
Super star in the making.

Unlike with Sebastian Telfair and Adam Morrison, the Greg Oden hype was justified. That's undeniable.
Now, with that said, Telfair and Morrison are in different categories. Telfair, of course, was a late lottery pick, so there was no clear idea as to how his game would translate from high school to the NBA; thus, taking a shot on him was a high-risk/high-reward gamble of some sort. On the other hand, though, it baffles me that countless people didn’t recognize Morrison’s deficiency of being woefully unathletic — which was apparent when he played against mediocre college competition and, more importantly, with his terrible performance at the pre-draft combine — was going to screw him at the next level. Unfortunately for Morrison, this wasn’t the ’80s — which was inferior from an athletic standpoint to the ’90s and today — wherein players such as Kiki Vandeweghe could make a career for themselves on being one-dimensional scoring machines.

Now there's a good comparison.
Kiki, and Adam. I’ll agree with your statements.

I'm sad about this.
2005-2006 was my freshman year of college, and I quickly fell in love with Gonzaga’s cardiac team that seemed to win every conference game on the last play, and Morrison in particular (although I was attending a basketball powerhouse school at the time). So many memories from that season. I hope he can somehow catch on somewhere.
