As much as I like Andre Miller and appreciate everything he's brought to this team, he's not going to be around for that much longer. I also like Bayless, but let's face it, he's a scoring guard, not a passer, and he has much work to do on defense. Bayless is one of those guys who will be an absolute BEAST when we trade him to another team. A la Jermaine O'Neal.
Armon Johnson on the other hand, has the work ethic needed to develop into the hard-working, smart type of point guard that Nate McMillan wants running his team. He is already a very impressive defender, which puts him miles ahead of the other two guys. He makes smart decisions with the basketball for such a young guy, not too many turnovers. Although a lot of cynics would say he leaves a lot to be desired with his jump shot, I would say that for this stage of his career, and the other aspects of the game he excels at, it's not too worrisome. His jump shot will improve with time, and the tutelage of our wonderful shooting coach. I honestly believe he will be the missing piece of our championship puzzle in the next couple of years.
I know it's early, so there's still plenty of doubt, but I'd still like to hear what you guys think about the matter. Maybe when we can see some more of his game, such as when they actually televise them, then we can form better opinions.
