Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Why aren't we looking at this guy for the Center spot? Fab Oberto is reportedly still looking for work. Has been offered a 3-month deal in Turkey, but would rather stay in the NBA. Surely his veteran savvy would pay more dividends than DJ Mbenga?

I just hope he isn't a jerk(y)

When the world knows Nico Batum as "The Inevitable", I'll be very happy with where he is as a player.

Cho probably is looking at Oberto.

However, Oberto may not be willing to jump on a plane and interview/work out for a team that is offering a pre-season contract. I believe that is all Rich Cho is willing to commit to at this point. That’s probably why Steven Hill made sense. I doubt Hill has any expections beyond preseason.

Hopefully, in a week or so, Cho will have a better idea of the timeline for Joel’s return and the team can move forward.

It really depends what you see the need being.

If you think we should be reaching for a guy that could play signifiant minutes (20+) you pick Dampier. Although his contract was insane, without it he’s not a bad stopgap. Oberto? Maybe.

But, if you’re more optimistic about the recovery of Joel, Greg and continued health of Marcus Camby than whoever we’re after may only have to fill in for 5-10 minutes a game and bring energy and alter shots in the paint. Which for me, despite other glaring holes in his game, indicates Mbenga.

Hill only really gives you a body to practice against who’s going to give you an endless supply of energy and Spin Doctor’s jokes. Which isn’t all a bad thing.

I'd take oberto

as a 5 min a game type guy.

Waive Pendergraph, sign Oberto

unless Cho thinks there’s another big who will be cut this month that he likes even more

When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

Can he back up LA also?

Seems like he would be an upgrade over Pendergraph if you are just looking at this season which I assume we are. Heck, I would maybe even sign a two year deal for him. He has to be on Cho’s list even if Joel and Greg were coming back today.
