So i was reading through hoopsworld and the front page says "Charles Barkley sounds off!" To which i cringe and say to myself "what sort of crap came oozing out the dude's mouth this time?" I loved the round mound as a player, as a man i am not so much of a fan. From his infamous rated R "reason" for speeding that he gave to the officer who pulled him over a few years back to his god awful.....for lack of a better word.....insight during TNT games i can't really stand the guy.
So i click the link: http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17486, scroll down and start reading. Here and now i invite EVERYONE to click the above link and read what he said. Basically, he called Lebron's garbage that race has to play with the ire he is drawing complete B.S. I could not agree with Barkley more, then i got to reminiscing about the good ol' jailblazer years, then my thoughts turned to all the trials of the Brandon Roy era. From the Z-bo chewing out to the Rocket game 40 foot game winner up to the last playoff series against Phoenix and everything in between.
My thoughts then turn to the "what ifs." What if we somehow were in the hypothetical scenario of a Roy for Lebron trade, on paper you say do it EVERY time. Roy is awesome but Lebron is unique as a player and there is no debate Lebron is the better player. Roy though wins out in the "person" category hands down, though the walking ego that is Lebron is also unique but in a very bad way. Ohio doesn't feel spurned for no reason and Daniel Gilbert didnt get so upset publicly on a whim. I start to think, on the eve of one of the most awaited seasons in our team's history how glad i am to have the man we have leading our team.
We, as people tend to lose sight of those sorts of things. We get caught up in the Oden knee issue, we get focused on the start of the season and by proxy training camp. Once the season starts we rise and fall with the team and thats all we see is that particular win or loss. I am a major contributor to this myself, but i would go down swinging every time with Roy rather than win 6 titles with Lebron. He has shown his character in recent years, ill not go into detail but i could not be in more of an agreement with Barkley and i thank god OUR guy is named Brandon Roy
