Wizards trading Butler for Hinrich?
From the Chicago Sun-Times (via ESPN Insider):
"Rumors were circulating Sunday that the Washington Wizards are shopping swingman Caron Butler, with the Bulls and the Miami Heat being the likely trading partners. From the Bulls, the Wizards reportedly would seek guard Kirk Hinrich to provide some stability. The rumors also had the expiring contracts of Jerome James and Mike James being included, although the contracts of Butler ($9.78 million) and Hinrich ($9.5 million) are close enough to do the deal straight up."
This would be a rather ironic trade given that Butler and Hinrich are two of the players most commonly talked about as possible trade targets for the Blazers.
If there is any truth to this rumor, it would seem that Hinrich's market value is higher than I would have anticipated. Conversely, Butler's seems to be lower.

seriously
You would think that Miller + Outlaw could easily net Butler if there is any truth this rumor. However, I have major doubts that a hinrich for Butler trade would happen straight up.
RUDY > MJ
isnt he a small forward?
we have batum and martell, that would just create more of a logjam. We need a post player if anything.
Why would they trade him to an Eastern team?
In Bayless I trust.

Blowing the team up
It looks like the Wizards might just blow the team up. There are rumors that they might void Arenas’ contract over the gun issues. And they are also rumored to be shopping Butler and Jamison.
Since they don’t have much in the way of young talent, and Abe Pollin died, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them gut the team, move all the big contracts, and get as lean as possible to facilitate a sale. If that’s the case, they won’t be looking at contending any time soon. So trading Butler to an Eastern team wouldn’t really matter.

They actually have decent young talent. No star young talent though.

Nick Young
I like him. I wonder how he’d fit with the Blazers; although he could be the ideal backup for Brandon Roy if you want the OPPOSITE of a change of pace. If they’re trying to get lean, however, no way do they take Andre Miller off our hands and would want at least one of Batum or Bayless. I’m bear-ish on Bayless, but I’d rather take the bird in hand rather than a chance on Young.
M, period. Fresh, comma.
Jamison could be nice this year...
but his contract does last longer than I’d like.
Blake/Outlaw for Jamison
probably not worht it because of the next two years afterwards.
