DTV CSN channel available yet?
Direct TV peeps like myself able to order the CSN channel yet? I see Cali, Midwest and other regional CSN, but not Northwest/Blazers channel. I have to see my blazers doing well despite all these crazy injuries, this is a memorable season for sure!
I really am pissed if this is the case, I guess I will have to resort to streaming online Justin.tv deal or somethingg....uhg.
Any word on next season and DTV/Sattelite getting some love?

Don't hold your breath
The current Comcast programming is probably 8 years away when the Blazers can strike a new deal. I have set up a system for streaming after Larry Miller stated that the Blazers intended to stream these games by the first of this year. The Blazers are “disappointed” with Comcast and “exploring their options wthin their contract.”
I started to get excited when the news about the FCC ruling came out but that was a false hope since they are offering it at a price beyond reason . Unfortunately as greedy as Comcast is proving to be I expect to lose the KGW games next year since they are taking control of NBC
I would put it at 18 years...
I imagine the Blazers will re-up for another 10 after they realize it is again the most money.
KGW is not NBC
KGW is an NBC affiliate but not owned by NBC

i think the financial crisis
is hurting everyone involved.
Blazers cant get a better deal
Comcast paid a high premium when the economy was a tad bit better
Everyone else feels like they should pay an amount that is relative to todays market and not the price comcast paid for it a few years ago.

I'm so confused about this issue.
I have basic, cheap cable with Wave Broadband, hardly a leader in the industry. CSNNW is part of my package at no extra cost. Either buying the rights to the channel is not that expensive, or Wave is taking in the shorts to keep me happy. Wave advertises itself as a low cost provider in the industry. I get 67 channels (all analog) including CSNNW for $26.75/month. Wave’s the Wal-Mart of cable but has CSNNW. What am I missing here?
It is a power play
CSN is asking an amount that is pretty normal for this type of programing …..Dish Network and DTV are not happy with the status quo regarding sports programming (see the Versus debacle) so they are holding out to see who will blink first. Comcast themselves are losing money because they don’t have the distribution they want , (pay tv channels get revenue by ad sales, based on total subscribers and from deals with other companies, like DTV, also based on total subscriber numbers). It is in Comcast’s interest to get these deals signed and get these revenue streams flowing but they also don’t want to just give away the product they payed heavily for because once a deal is struck it will be for several years and they will be tied to it regardless of what the economy does. So it is basically a standoff

Thanks. I appreciate the response.
It sounds like just about everyone is losing at the moment.
and the counter argument
is that Comcast is asking Dish and DTV to pay more than they think is fair. What I’ve heard is that they want the same per-subscriber rate that ESPN gets, which seems ridiculous to me.
if I recall, the original difference was that Comcast was insisting that the channel be placed into the basic tier of programming on the satellite packages, and thus they would collect the per-subscription fee on every single account in the programming area (the Pac NW basically). DTV and Dish were wanting to put it into a higher tier package and/or the sports add-on packages, thus Comcast would only get the per-subscriber fee for those people who opt for the higher tier and/or sports package.
How did you guys win that?

I have heard that bantered around here but never from anyone official ...but I did hear something that I do think is likely
I heard (from a old Larry Miller interview I think) that Comcast was asking the same amount as FSN-NW (the previous Blazer carrier) …which makes more sense since CSN is much more similar to FSN than it is to ESPN and that is consistent line with what we have seen so far (some carriers electing to take CSN and others not). The reason I think this is likely true is that if Comcast were asking the same money as ESPN….none of the other providers would have taken it, because ESPN is literally the most expensive channel that a TV distributor carries…not one costs more. As it stands Verizon, Wave, Bend Broadband, and a few others (including some mom and pop operations) have elected to carry the channel and as Sean noted it doesn’t seem as though it causing them to have a big rate increase or to go out of business.
