Good stuff.

Anymore, I only go to ESPN if I want to know what’s up with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, the Lakers, or the New York Knicks. So for me, that’s pretty much never.

Treat people well because Karma can hit you at any second.

No kidding

I am sick of seeing LeBron and Kobe ESPN and espn.com – it’s getting to be a real bad joke.

Brandon Roy, 'nuff said.

Sounds like Martell would be great trade bait now

I like guy but batum and better….. What would Martell and troutlaw plus a pick get us now?

How the hell did that happen? I am Trailblazer fan to the core but I love me some OKC THunder!!! Must be the Hometown pride I feel.

Yeah, OK - Martell finally develops into the player that most Blazer fans have been hoping he would...

and now you want to trade him! Geez!

It is fortunate that BEdgers don’t have the ability to force trades or this roster would hopelessly screwed up all of the time for eternity.

+ 1

This is just the beginning of his growth. I’ve been pumping him here for
years as a athletic shooter who would find his handle and be a integral
part of our championship run. He’s also very young and a great kid.

It's GO time !

Bedgers were talking about dealing him last year, during his rehab

and that’s backwards, the time to trade him (if there ever is a good time) is while he’s performing well. If you “think like a GM” and not a fan, anyway

(based on his “I’m representing the team in this post-game interview” comments after his career game the other night, it’s hard to root against this kid retiring in red/black. I think he’s 100% genuine and those kinds of people are rare, especially 20 year-olds earning millions)

OTOH, as Jaynes wrote earlier, Martell’s has had his minutes “jerked around” by Nate in the past (insert “roll eyes” here) and is only now showing what he can do when he’s given regular PT and starter’s minutes, without any risk of being “banished” to the bench if he misses a couple of shots in a row. The real test (for Nate, and Marty) will come as Batum is integrated back into the rotation. Earlier today, Kenny Vance said “there’s no way in ____” that Nate should take Webster out of the starting lineup…but when Roy returns, the team won’t need Martell’s scoring as much as Nic’s defense and “glue guy” abilities. Roy can take a break on defense when #88 is in the game, and Brandon praised Nic last year for his contributions as a rookie. Nate will also look at the impact of adding Webster’s scoring to the 2nd unit as a plus, so (at this point) I fully expect Batum to be back in the starting lineup, by the trading deadline

So the question I return to is this…how will the reduced PT at SF affect Webster’s shooting percentage and overall consistency? Has he “turned the corner” and found his confidence to the point that it won’t matter how many minutes he plays to maintain his perfeormance, or will he struggle to get untracked if he’s “jerked around” again?

Like I wrote yesterday…we’ll be watching. So will the scouts/GMs of opposing teams

martell has been giving the blazers more then batum ever did last year and is playing pretty darn good defense to go with it. i don’t see why batum should be starting by the trading deadline. martell has been playing some good ball lately and should be rewarded by keeping his starting spot.

we really wont know how martell will perform with a cut to his minutes, but i hope he plays well through the incorperation of batum into the rotation. The Blazers could use some consistency throughout the rotation wheather webster start or come off the bench.

with all that said I think it will be a very tough decision between the two if it ever comes to that, but i think martell should remain the starter for this season. Unless of course batum comes out like gangbusters and lights up everbody. then everything changes with that scenario.

it depends what the starting lineup and bench needs

Nate will have to make that call. The first quarter defense last night was attrocious, Nic could help with that. But Brandon may need Martell in the game to help spread the floor, (since Miller is starting at PG now, not Blake) so Batum may come off the bench for the rest of the year. We’ll see. It’s not so much about the abilities of the individual SFs as what they bring to the black-white units.

If you ask me who will be the Blazer’s starting 3 for the future…I’ve been picking #88 since last year and from what I saw last night (and even taking Webster’s improvement during the last month into consideration) I still think Frenchy will be the man. And I don’t think splitting the SF minutes 24/24 (or playing one of them a lot at the 4) is in either player’s best interests

Wow kneejerk

I just think he would be very easily traded for a good bigman batum will be much better and we all know that …. The kid is hitting his ceiling now , that’s great, but do you want him or Rudy…. I’ll take Rudy easily !!
