Patty Mills
Apparently, he had a great first game in the NBDL! I don't necessarily agree with what mookie says about him being our starting pg of the future, but I am glad to see that KP keeping him even with his injury may pay off. Although, he may fit in as that distributor/deep threat that BRoy needs at pg in the future. I remember watching Mills' last game at St. Mary's where he was on fire, hitting (I think) 6 of 7 threes in the first half before breaking his foot.

I watched the game on NBA.com
There was basically no defense being played on the perimeter. He got to where ever he wanted to on the court with nobody challenging his shot. I’m happy he had a nice debut as ‘pro’ but let’s not get carried away.
He’s going to have a helluva time playing defense (he’s generously listed at 6’) and there’s no way he’s going to have that much freedom to score at the next level.
I agree
Saw the game as well and whir I did think it was a solid debut, it was against the d league and someone with national team talent should produce at that level.
I was impressed at the fact that this was his first real action since his foot injury, and his 3 was on which will translate well playing off Roy in the future.
As a starter that is another story but a future Bayless/mills/Blake pg rotation could be good.

I think....
People are getting carried away because we saw him have his way with the Olympic team. I hope us portlanders have a chance to seehim in a blazers uniform

So I guess no one saw him torch the Redeem Team guards in the Olympics.
If some of you think he isn’t our future Point Guard I suggest you scour the internet and find that game.

It is almost like some people are afraid
that he is going to be able to help the Blazers in some way. It is like, “I told you he was short, and that is the end of it. The fact that he is quick, fast, and seems to have a very quick shot release means nothing. He is short. The fact that he seems to be able to get by some very good players is meaningless even though I saw a very nice left handed hook pass at the end of a drive last night, it does not mean a thing. The guy cannot play defense. Until he is able to make the all defensive team, don’t even talk about this guy. Forget the Blazers signed him. The D League is terrible and so is Anthony Tolliver. Enough said, Now shut up about this guy!”
As for myself, I am just hoping he gets a fair chance. He is who he is and it will all work itself out. Height is an issue that may work against him, and so is defense, but they are certainly not the beginning and the ending if he has or can come up with other skills that compensate for his weaknesses. He is young with limited experience. Nobody really knows yet, that is why the Blazers are taking a classic, “flyer,” on this kid. This should not be heavy, it should be fun and who knows, maybe even exciting.

Nice comment

I agree. He’ll probably get squashed and smashed because he is too short and didn’t look like much of a defender, but his quickness, lightning speed, and shooting might make it a lot of fun.
Better than watching us dribble out a 24 second violation, anyway.

I agree with this sentiment

This is exactly what you look for with a late pick – upside. Worst case, Patty’s game doesn’t translate to the NBA and he’s done with the Blazers after a year or two. Best case, we scored a guy who is lightning quick and can provide a spark off the bench. He has done very well against the best the US has to offer in international ball, being on an NBA team where he is a role player and not the focal point is something he will need to adjust to, but again, there is no downside to letting him take a crack at this on the Blazer payroll.
Always supporting Greg Oden.
Free AK1984.
tolliver also had 30 and 12… and we all know how he killed it in his time with the blazers. HA!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGH!!!!!!!!- Sabonis getting fouled.
The Stampede's system caters to huge numbers
You actually have to watch the games to know if the talent is there. Tolliver was never projected to be more than a hustle player in the NBA.

Also, he scored 20 against us in the olympics quarter finals game. He’s good guys.
He shoots well enough
That teams have to respect it. He’s fast enough to drive past defenders, closing out.
Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game
Im sorry
Anyone who is putting this guy down is foolish. He is coming off an injured ankle and I dont care what competition it is, trying to be explosive and hit your threes in rhythm like he did is silly.
It is the D League but if you put Jarred Bayless there would he score 50? Hard to believe.
Alsso Mills came off the bench and did all that in 28 minutes.

bayless would score 60

I'm a fan after watching this:
As a 19 yo freshman at St. Mary’s against the favored Oregon Ducks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tRLRvWUtI4
three things
1. Patty hasn’t played in a long time … coming off the broken foot.
2. He wasn’t out of shape … it was an up and down game.
3. He hasn’t played with any of these guys and couldn’t know any of their plays.
Yes, yes the NBA DL. Yes, yes they are a run and gun team. Yes, yes this and yes, yes that. He shot well, saw the floor well, and had 12 ASTs. This is going to be fun. Get him back to Portland.
rotation player for the short term?
At least as long as Blake is out, why not bring Mills into the rotation as a fourth guard?
