Who gets the final roster spot (poll included)
With the preseason just around the corner and position debates all the rage right now, (starting pg, sf, center...) I thought I'd throw another debate out there, one that should definitly start to pick up once the team starts playing games. Who do you think should get the the fifteenth spot on the roster? With the Juwan Howard signing (which I liked) that leaves the blazers with one spot left and four guys competing for it. The two leading candidates seem to be Jarron Collins, a former Jazz center, and Ime Udoka, who started 81 games during the 06-7 season here in portland after playing hs ball at jefferson and his college ball at PSU. The other two guys are Donnell Taylor, who has 98 games of NBA experience over two years but has played in greece the past two years, and Quinton Hosley, a 6'7'' tweener who plays a bulky three and an undersized power forward. Here are each of the player's basketballreference.com links. Taylor: http://basketballreference.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=TAYLODO01, Hosley: (his Euroleague player profile as well as his wikipedia, because he hasn't logged any time in the NBA) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinton_Hosley, http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?clubcode=mad&pcode=001196&seasoncode=e2008, Udoka: http://basketballreference.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=UDOKAIM01%20, Collins: http://basketballreference.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=COLLIJA04. This truthfully a two man race unless Taylor or Hosley absoluteley tears it up in camp, (and even then they would probably just be used as trade bait) between Udoka and Collins. They both certainly have something to bring to the table. Both are veterans, provide physical play, and have some playoff experience. If it were up to me, I'd go with Collins, because to me there just isn't enough use for another small forward, plus Udoka's numbers with San Antonio last year took a steep decline, so it looks like his best days may be behind him. Collins is a year younger, and could provide depth at both the center and power foward spots, and you can never have too much size at the end of your bench.
Its up to you though, so who gets it?
this seems like way to much to type about this subject. i want the season to start.

i kinda wish KP had brought in a point guard, i know mills got hurt and jeter signed overseas, but SOMEONE with experience at the position would’ve pushed bayless and given the back end guys a chance to run with a distributor type so the can show what they can do on offense

agreed
I vote for Mills.
Free markets have long been the basis for a legitimate - though rightly debated - economic policy framework. But they have become little more than a robotically-recited cultural catechism, a mindless mantra mumbled to mask the looting of the nation's resources that is the true purpose of Republican economic policy as demonstrated by the staggering upward transfers of wealth that inevitably occur under Republican regimes. A more complete, conspicuous, catastrophic, and irrefutable repudiation of right wing leaders, right wing policies, and right wing ideology could not possibly be contrived.
I don't understand
Why would we need a 4th point guard before a 3rd center?
Still on the Rex bandwagon.

Does anyone know what happened to Jeff Padgett?
He really impressed in summerleague. I know, i know it was just summerleague but i think he earned a spot in camp to at least compete for a spot. Look what happened with Nic last year, he had a horrible summerleague.

It's kinda tough for me.
Whoever takes that 15th spot isn’t really “winning” imo. I definitely like Ime Udoka more, but I hope he finds a team that gives him good minutes because he won’t find that on this team. However, it is true that we could use Jarren Collins more, but it’s not like we’re desperate for him. All in all, I’ll just give in and say that Ime should get here IMEdiately.
The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

I voted for Udoka
simply for the fact that I liked him when he was playing for Portland. But I say give that final roster spot to whomever proves that they deserve it more than the other 3. Outside of Udoka I have no idea who those other guys are. But if one of them deserves that 15th spot I say give it to ’em

Collins is three or four deep before he gets off the bench while Ime is six or seven deep.
There is more to an athlete than how fast they can run, they also better be able to see what they are doing and know why they are doing it.
Collins is better for our need. Udoka is better to deny Denver a starter/defender at the 2
Hard call because Udoka is going to hurt us a bit somewhere else. One previewer had him starting in Denver before he signed here.
Collins, if he can still play rounds out the big and is versatile. Collins played 8 years for Jerry Sloan so he can defend and rebound at that spot that all we can ask for.
Both have strong chemistry pluses.

Patty Mills will probably end up in Europe this year
He’s going to have to have an out of this world training camp to get a spot this year.
I’m guessing Collins, unless KP works a trade for another big man.

Oh, or maybe nobody
We might wait and see who gets cut from other teams and then pick up somebody after the season starts. Or trade after the season starts. We know they’ve had an eye on their cap space once the Euro holds come off.
