The Dontonio Wingcast Episode 007
Basketball Prospectus's Kevin Pelton and I are back with episode 7 of The Dontonio Wingcast, our basketball podcast. This week we've got a time-travelling episode for you: we taped a show yesterday about Media Day and Jarron Collins and a bonus segment today about the signing of Ime Udoka!
In this week's episode...
- KP2 clears the air about his alleged (read: invented) beef with John Hollinger
- We talk about the various Media Day cliques
- KP2 shares his favorite memory from Sonics Media Day
- We break down the pronunciation of Jarron Collins' name and analyze whether he makes sense for the Blazers
- I tell a heartwarming story about a personal interaction with J. Collins
- We briefly look at the impending referee crisis and the "gag order" that seems to be in place
- Bonus segment: we discuss the training camp signing of Ime Udoka and KP2 renders a decision about who is better for the Blazers: Collins or Udoka.
Music selections:
Clipse- Keys Open Doors
Scarface -- Guess Who's Back
Ma$e -- Welcome Back
Look for a full-length episode with the 1 on 1 interview that I promised last week to drop this weekend.
You can subscribe to our iTunes feed or stream/download the mp3 here: Download The Dontonio Wingcast 007

if you have iTunes, I believe this’ll work.
Ben- this is more direct than linking to search results. Maybe you could link to this instead, in the future?

What's your take...
On the signing of Ime? Yes it adds another perimeter defender to our roster in case of injury, but it also adds a 4th person to the SF debate…
Rap
If the Rap “music” adds anything to the pod cast, I failed to see it.

If you can find a rock song titled "Guess who's back" forward it to Ben
“Back in Black” might have worked, but could be misconstructed.
"I think he can still play" - Kevin Pritchard on Juwan Howard
Disagree on the bit about the refs
Sorry but the NBA refs are the worst in any major pro sport. The star system and home biases are blantly obivous.
JRogero
we can hope that the scab refs won't be indoctrinated by David Stern
to make sure the star players and the big-market teams get the benefit of the doubt, but what are the odds? As long as the league is hiring, training and paying the refs, the beat will go on
maybe if Congress declared the NBA a monopoly and required an independent company to hire, train, pay and monitor the refs? Nah, it would never happen—it’s not good business for the owners and the networks, they all know where their bread is buttered
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
